If we were on a romantic date and you asked me to share a little bit about myself, I would take a theatrically long sip of wine (white preferable, but I’m getting into red), then with an air of mystery I would slightly lean over the table and reply “I like long walks on the beach and short walks to the fridge.” Not only is this true and sexy, but it also sums me up in fifteen words or less. Long walks on the beach could be a metaphor for travel and adventure. I grew up in a small land locked town where the closest body of water happened to be a popular watering hole for cows. Yes, there were cows, and yes they smelt bad. Naturally I dreamed of bigger and brighter things.

The travel bug bit my soul and drained my wallet at the tender age of get me the hell out of here. One has never truly lived until they almost drown on a ferry crossing the English Channel or break a Peruvian roof in an attempt to find a warm bed. As for short walks to the fridge well that’s pretty straight forward. Food is life and I love food; all kinds of food. I’m not one to discriminate. My Eat, Pray, Love would be more accurately titled Eat, Stay, Repeat. The movie version would star a break out artist most likely named Jennifer or Emma and all they’d do is find places to eat, stay for a couple drinks with randoms turned long lost friends and repeat with new cravings. My mouth is watering just thinking about it, well that and the fact that it’s morning and my body needs cereal to function.

If this was a date you best believe it would end with dessert. I’d share because I’m a trustworthy person with only a mild set of commitment issues. And I’m snacking the moment I get home anyway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The summer of 2014 I spent a month in Peru volunteering at a local pre-school. I got to spend everyday teaching these beautiful children. We played games, ate snacks, and had way too much fun. It was a life changing opportunity.
