About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel, to learn, to teach, to explore, to share and experience all of life has to offer.
ABOUT ME
I feel that I have had the travel bug long before I ever left my own country. I have had a world map on my wall since I was 10 and it has yet to come down. My first overseas trip was in 2011 when I did a Field School through my college to Greece. The following year I went on an exchange to Merida, Mexico for six months, and got to travel around the Mexican Penisula, as well as Puerto Rico, Guatemala and Belize. The moment I returned home I was ready for my next adventure.
I love playing soccer, and watching (live) soccer. I am a typical Canadian hockey fan, and I will always be a Vancouver Canucks fan, despite their shortcomings. I love getting involved in the local culture, and am fascinated how friendly and warm Latin people can be to a complete stranger. I have been exposed to different cultures living within my hometown by the variety of international students I have had the pleasure of knowing, forever enchanted by tales of unknown lands and culture norms so different from my own. I enjoy a good party, I love to dance (although I wouldn't say I can) and learning how to dance salsa or the samba is on my bucket list.
PHILOSOPHY
I once heard a saying, "everything will be all right in the end, and if it's not all right, than it's not the end yet". I try to remember that, and live by it because everything happens for a reason. As well, patience is a virtue and impatience won't do you any good.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
To be honest, I have no previous couch surfing experience, and am just beginning to get into the idea of sleeping on someones couch. I think it is great for karma and an awesome way to get in touch with locals. I am looking forward to gaining some experience!
Interests
I am into sports - I've played soccer (or football to most of the world) for most of my life. I love surprising people (especially men) with my ability to play probably the most worldly sport. I am into reading, volunteering, and undoubtedly traveling. I am getting into diving, and I am interested in surfing (although this does not mean I can surf). I am learning to play acoustic guitar and love learning new things.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am pretty much what I call music illiterate. I like a variety of music, but chances are I haven't heard of any of those up and coming bands that everyone talks about, the latest songs, and my iPod is almost always "outdated" I usually hear about those awesome new bands when they are already famous. When I hear a "new" song and share it with my friends, I am often told that the song is months old. I do like a good music festival though, and can appreciate good tunes when shared with me. Movies - yes. Comedies are a favourite, but I can go for a good cartoon, action or thriller. They wouldn't be my first pick but I will usually enjoy them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cage diving with great white sharks in the waters surrounding Isla Guadalupe in Mexico with my brothers. Un fricken believable!
Family bonding by skydiving. Witnessing my 48 year old mother willing to let herself fall out of an airplane was one of the most impressive things I have seen. It left no room for my brother or I to chicken out. I feel nothing but pride, my mom is pretty damn cool.
I have seen some pretty impressive Maya Ruins throughout Mexico and Guatemala as well. Pretty damn mind boggling. As well as some of the remaining buildings left over from Ancient Greece. I have witnessed great kindness from strangers and have conversed with people from foreign lands through Spanish, when it is no ones mother tongue.
I have held the tail of a crocodile and patted its back in the Upper East region of Ghana where legend has it that in that area, they have never hurt a human being.
Teach, Learn, Share
Sometimes you don't know what you have to teach other people and it just happens passively. I am always open to learning something new, trying new things and sharing my experiences.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well I sure hope that we can share some laughs, stories, maybe some good food and have a few drinks. I would like to believe I make good company and love to dance.
