Overview
About Me
I'm doing my best to travel in order to run towards something: fun, knowledge, beauty, connections, instead of running away from something. The latter tends not to work very well, anyways.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to see the world! My best travel experiences have always been about people: people generous enough to share their stories, insights, and time with me.
Interests
I love watching movies, thinking about movies and, occasionally, making movies. I'm especially passionate about the importance of film representation of marginalised groups.
When I'm not sitting in a dark movie theatre, I love rock climbing and being outside. (Although I haven't combined the two yet--I gym climb as much as possible, but I want to learn to climb outdoors!) I love eating great food; reading for fun or about history, critical race theory, gender and film studies; learning from other people (I'll be honored if you share a piece of your life story with me!), and of course, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books
All kinds of movies! Moonlight is the best movie I've seen in recent memory. I especially love The Big Lebowski, Jeanne Dielman, Toy Story, The Act of Killing, Phoenix, Psycho, Force Majeure and Slumdog Millionaire
I love hearing new music, my current favorite bands are Landlady (indie rock, similar to Wilco) and The Internet (neo-soul, so dope). I also love a good podcast--Another Round, The Sporkful, This American Life, Radio Ambulante, and lots more.
I don't read enough anymore, but I love The Empathy Exams, Flight (Sherman Alexie), and At Night We Walk in Circles (Daniel Alarcón), and have lots of affection for the fantasy series that i loved as a kid (harry potter, charlie bone, edward eager books).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent a week helping out a human rights film festival in the Peruvian Amazon. (Check it out, it's called the Censurados Film Festival!) One of the films was about the issue of illegal gold mining in the area, and it was a privilege to get to listen while members of the community affected by the consequences shared their experiences and concerns with each other. Also, it was beautiful and I found a tarantula on the wall of my hostel one day!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help you practice and learn English and Spanish, cook something from home, listen, talk, help you shoot and edit some photographs/film, and share my home with you when you travel to the US :)
