About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get the biggest adventure out of life.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on the coasts of Northern California but have moved around a few times since finishing high school. During part of my gap year I lived in Italy, in college spent five months in Australia, and have lived in Santa Cruz for about four years. I've also hitchhiked around half of Europe, spent five weeks volunteering in and exploring Costa Rica, and traveled a bit of South East Asia as well.

The ocean is my first and forever love-- I'm always trying to be in or at least near the water. I've been surfing off and on since I was about ten years old so I'm very avid about being on a board as much as possible, and have experience scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, and even a little bit of sailing when I was younger.

I'm an easy-going, goofy, enthusiastic, adventurous person who tries to always be positive and lives for the thrill of traveling and making connections. Travel is one of the most important things to me, I think it's an incredible way to grow and learn about other cultures, people, and all that.

(P.S. If you're a dude who's just using this website as a hook-up platform, don't message me! 🙂)

PHILOSOPHY

Give love, get love. Respect each other and the earth. Be happy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted as well as surfed since April of 2014. Even if I can't host I try to be able to meet up with people to hang out, show them around the area, or give them recommendations. I'm not a big drinker, so if you're trying to just go out and party a lot I'm probably not the best contact for you (however I do have some nights out, go to concerts, etc., so it sort of just depends on what's going on in town). If you're into adventures in nature or chilling at a coffee shop or walking along the coast, I can help you with that :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed all over Western and Northern Europe, as well as in Australia and Hawaii. Through these connections I have made some of the most amazing friends and gotten to see things from a local perspective that I may have otherwise not been exposed to. This community has helped make these ventures some truly unforgettable experiences that I have learned infinitely from. I love the philosophy of this site and think it is such an important way for people to be able to travel and interact.

I also grew up in a house that constantly had people coming in and out (family friends, bands, etc.) and since moving out have lived in places where my roommates and I routinely opened up our home to others, whether they needed a place to crash for a night or ended living with us for weeks. Living that kind of lifestyle has made me very much appreciate Couchsurfing and the community behind it.

Interests

As mentioned above, my main hobby is surfing-- I try to be in the water whenever I can. In general, I try to be as active, open-minded, and generous as possible, and highly believe in giving back to the world. I very much value living a healthy, able lifestyle, and I try to never be sitting around unless it's cozying up with a book, doing art, or doing the occasional movie/game night with friends. My other hobbies include but aren't limited to playing piano, writing, yoga, meditation, backpacking, volleyball, soccer, rock climbing, biking, and so on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked/couchsurfed across nine different countries for a summer

Moved to Italy when I was 18 by myself to work during my gap year

Got bitten by a monkey in Thailand

Was surfing next to a herd of whales feeding right near the shore and heard one sing as it breached right near me

Teach, Learn, Share

I can scoop ice cream like a boss and make a good milkshake. I can teach you random things like surfing etiquette or that prairie voles mate for life or how to make a temporary tattoo. One of my roommates always said once that I'm full of random scientific facts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, clean, share stories, join adventures, and try to be as fun as a couch surfer as I can be!
