Hello from Kaylie and Marret :)

We are a couple from the United States traveling and exploring around Europe! We began our journey in August 2021 and would like to go as far as we can before returning home.

We are both people who share a passion for new places, people, and experiences. We are empathetic individuals who have a deep appreciation for nature and all living things.

Kaylie enjoys swimming and writing. We both like to take long bike rides and experience life by the water or in the mountains! Marret loves rock climbing, especially outdoor bouldering. He also likes to game and make new friends to learn from and have fun with!

We both enjoy going out, getting drinks, adventuring but also taking it easy and having a chill movie night in :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This adventure is a way for both of us to focus on personal growth and learn more about who we are and who we wish to become. Couchsurfing, along with Workaway, are our two main methods of finding places to go and people to meet. We think that locals provide the best insight to a new city, it is the most immersive and interesting way to travel:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kaylie spent six weeks in Indonesia in 2019- traveling to different villages on Sumbawa island. There I took a short course on the language to communicate with locals and spent time with different host families, cooking with them and participating in different cultural ceremonies. I learned to surf there, rock climb and scuba dive. I attended a coming of age ceremony and a wedding! It was the greatest immersive, cultural experience I have had and I often look back on my experiences in Sumbawa very fondly.

Marret spent a month in China summer of 2019 learning the language, went rock climbing in the middle of the forest in the middle of the night, talked with 2 of my favorite rappers after a concert (JID and Deante Hitchcock), Scuba dived a shipwreck in Greece with Kaylie, climbed to the top of a radio tower with no protection (a few different times), did a double back flip off a Cliff into the water and off a trapeze, was a camp counselor for 4 summers, chopped wood with Albanian lumberjacks, and most of all have the best dog in the world.

We are interested in understanding different cultures, customs, foods and spiritualities. Always open to sharing ideas and experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Kaylie likes taking pics with her film camera- wants to use it as much as possible, would love to go out and take pics with you:)

She also really enjoys cooking/ baking so we can make something delicious for all of us to eat!!

Marret would love to practice his Chinese with anyone possible, but he'll easily talk about anything! We love to exchange travel stories and learn about cultural differences and norms everywhere we go.
