Hi there!

My name is Kaylin Funk. I'm from Vancouver Canada, and currently working and living in Australia on a working holiday for two years. Previously in Vancouver I worked as a freelance photographer and at the University of British Columbia. Now in Australia I've been traveling about with my husband, Gideon, and working as a barista.

As for what i'm like as a guest, i'm pretty mellow, respectful, tidy and try to be as helpful as possible. You'll find most days i'm out and about exploring but I also enjoy some downtime when available to chill and rest and sip some tea with good conversation. Gideon and I love to cook and entertain, and would gladly cook a meal for any hosts/guests we may meet. We are not partiers, but we do enjoy casual get togethers with close friends over a good bottle(s) of wine or cocktails.

I usually like to travel by spending a fair amount of time in each place. I love to experience each place I see, and really just take it all in. It's hard to get that experience when you're only staying in hotels. I've used Airbnb a number of times and have had nothing but really great experiences and I'm hoping for the same using Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm pretty diverse in my taste of music, I listen and enjoy most genre's except country or metal. Otherwise it really depends on my mood. Mellow acoustic, to mainsteam pop, to latin music to move to it's all lovely!

As for books and movies...i'm a sucker for romance and comedy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16 I was awarded a travel scholarship with National Geographic Student Expeditions to Tuscany Italy on a 10 day photography workshop. Even though it was many years ago it remains one of the best memories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My husband and I are pretty good cooks and will very gladly cook up some meals for you :)

Also if you're interested in learning about photography or even barista training I could also share some tips!
