About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To raft down the Amazon River.

ABOUT ME

I'm rather laid back. I like to read. I don't litter. There are very few places that I wouldn't go and very few people I wouldn't want to meet. I like to be outside as much as possible. I can appreciate an old building or cityscape, but the most amazing thing to see when traveling is nature. I am moving and doing as much as possible - traveling for me means go, go, go! I am not a lounge-by-the-pool-at-fancy-resort kind of person. Mark Twain said it best: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do".

PHILOSOPHY

Not all who wander are lost. - Tolkein

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. -T.S. Eliot

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted many CSers while living in Taiwan, but my apartment in the USA is too small to host surfers at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in a few countries, and I've had some amazing hosts! When surfing, it's always fun to see the place through a local's perspective. When hosting, I get to see my city through the eyes of someone who has never been here before, which I find very refreshing.

Interests

Traveling, books, learning, teaching, campfires, animals, musicals, laughing, diving, parks, mountains, people, trees, beaches, sunshine.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite artists are Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Billy Joel and Eminem are close seconds.

My favorite movie of all time is Singing in the Rain.

I love to read. I am the person who can't stop reading a book, regardless of how crappy it is, because I MUST know how it ends. I enjoy thrillers and adventure novels, but my favorite book of all time is "Pride and Prejudice". I'm also a huge fan of John Grisham, Dean Koontz, Rolf Potts, and J.K. Rowling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My university graduation was in the kitchen building of an archaeological field school in rural Ecuador.

Teach, Learn, Share

I make really good chocolate chip cookies, and will happily share them with anyone :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tooting my own horn here, but I think I am relatively funny and quick-witted. I am a good listener and can be insightful. I have had some lovely chats with complete strangers about our experiences and desires that have transformed us into good friends.
