ABOUT ME
KATIE: I am a easy going, friendly person. I enjoy traveling a lot and meeting new people. I am 28 years old and trying to find out what I want do with my life!! So rather than doing that at home stuck in a boring job, I decided to see the world, experience living in other countries, have fun and hopefully work out what I want from life!!!!!!! Somehow after that, I ended up studying in Victoria, B.C which is a beautiful part of the world and I love being here!! So I am basically trying to do well in school and figure out life at the same time! :)
ALLIE: Hey there! I am super laid back and I've just joined CouchSurfing with Katie after we moved in together in May. I am 20 years old and originally from a suburb of Los Angeles, California. I am a third year student at the University of Victoria and I work as a dog groomer. I love traveling, but I just don't have the money right now, so I figured I'd just live vicariously through all of you and help you out in your travels! :) I love Victoria, and I'd be more than happy to hang out and show you around while you're here!

Music, Movies, and Books
KATIE: Music: My favourites have to be Joni Mitchell, Neko Case, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg, Michael Buble, Kathleen Edwards, Leonard Cohen, Missy Higgins, Carrie Underwood, Patty Griffin, The RAA, Snow Patrol, Steve Earle, Elbow, Teddy Thompson, Tori Amos, The Waifs, Tiziano Ferro, Irene Grandi.
Books: Well I try to mix up my reading between fiction and non-fiction. So recently I have read a great book called 'In the Footsteps of Mr Kurtz' about the Congo. My favourite books must be Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood and A Little Love Song by Michelle Magorian (this book just makes me feel great after a bad day!!)
Movies:Well, I haven't watched too many movies recently but I used to really enjoy anything by Quentin Tarantino (expect Inglorious Basterds which was truly bad). I enjoy comedies, romantic comedies, thrillers but don't really enjoy horror films
ALLIE: Music: I was raised with a lot of musical influence; my dad is a musician. I like all different kinds of music from Yukon Blonde to Nikki Minaj. Mainly, I like: Young the Giant, Foster the People, Mother Mother, Dan Mangan, Dave Matthews Band, Dr. Dog, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, and much more!
Books: anything by David Sedaris, Carlos Castaneda, and Kurt Vonnegut. I also really like reading autobiographies and non-fiction.
Movies: Pineapple Express, Wes Anderson, David Lynch, Quentin Tarantino, Old School, Anchorman, Crash, The Corporation.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Katie: One amazing thing was walking the Great Wall of China. I walked 6 miles and it was hard hard work. The wall is extremely steep and badly maintained, i think at one point was sliding down a steep slope as there was simply no other way to get down. It was grueling but so worth it!!!! oh, the views were pretty amazing too!!
Allie: When I was younger, I went to a little port town in Mexico called Costa Maya and upon arrival, my mum and I found a place to rent horses for the day and we did that. We galloped and ran the horses along the beach and even took the saddles off and went riding bareback into the ocean with the horses! It was so much fun and one of the most amazing experiences since I love animals.
