About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Win a photo contest before the summer ends!

ABOUT ME

I just graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Political Science major and a French minor. I'm beginning Teach For America this year, to become a high school Math teacher in Baltimore, MD!

The first things my friends say about me are that I have a positive, optimistic personality, I'm outgoing, and I'm sharp. They also say that I have a good sense of humor, I'm compassionate, and I'm mature and thoughtful. I think all of these descriptors are accurate!

I lived with a French host family for 4 months, who loved having me as a guest. (I loved living with them, too!) They appreciated the fact that I was very respectful, very flexible in planning, very helpful in doing dishes/other chores, very tidy, and very pleasant to be around.

PHILOSOPHY

Two of my favorite quotes, and my own personal mottos:

"Always do right. This will gratify some and astonish the rest."
"The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good."

These 2 mottos go along well with Couchsurfing because this network is about traveling, but also about being hospitable and a community builder :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couch-surfed before with friends, but having my own account is new. I hope to be more active in the CS network in the future by meeting up with fellow CSers whenever possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best CS experience that I had was with Pepe Sosa, who lives in Sevilla. He was a fantastic host who made us authentic Spanish food, and took us out to his favorite bar. He also introduced us to his friend who is a rising rockstar named Nolasco. We ate dinner with him, and were then invited to his Madrid concert a few days later! It was an incredible time, all thanks to Pepe and CS!

Interests

"Learn something about everything and everything about something."

That's my motto. I have SOOO many different interests and activities from traveling to photography to dance to Political Science (my major in college) to spending time with friends to tutoring to Psychology (my minor in college) to volunteering--you name it! I love learning and I love absorbing facts, so conversation and activities in any field almost always interest me!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm flexible--I can get into almost any genre of music. I like many types of movies and books, too, with the exception of horror/gore. I get scared easily!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While studying abroad, I was fortunate enough to travel and experience many amazing things. The Eiffel Tower, the British Parliament building, The Sagrada Familia...they were all wonderful! But one moment that left me truly awestruck was not a famous monument at all. At a busy intersection in the middle of a French city, my friends and I saw a blind woman on her cell phone. It sounded like she was trying to meet up with someone else. We stepped past her, careful not to trip on her guiding pole, and about 50 feet later, saw a blind man on his cell phone. We wondered if we were wrongfully stereotyping by assuming that they might have been looking for each other, but we turned out to be right! They were indeed looking for each other. So one of my friends took the woman by the arm and I took the man by the arm and we guided them to each other (avoiding all the traffic). They were very happy and very thankful to have found each other at last, which made us all very happy!
