About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Personal Acculturation

ABOUT ME

"I wanted movement and not a calm course of existence. I wanted excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for love. I felt in myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in our quiet life." - Leo Tolstoy, Family Happiness

I like to bike, hike, read, watch horror/zombie movies, and listen/watch music that has passion, soul, grit, and purpose. When I have money, I like to ski. I want to travel, explore, and am always trying to push my boundaries. I like to challenge myself, test my limits, and see of what I am capable. I have been described as a very passionate person, and I wouldn’t want to live any other way. I believe life is too short to let things pass you by, and I’m always plotting and looking for my next big adventure. I am a minimalist. I live in my truck. I'd like to live off my bicycle. I like to laugh. I love researching things and constantly learning. I enjoy studying human behavior and why we do the things we do via the realms of anthropology, sociology, and psychology. I like to be outside whenever I can and value working with my hands and living by the DIY mentality.

My dream is to ride my bike around the world and live/work/volunteer in different areas along the way. Care to join?

PHILOSOPHY

"To communicate with the world what the world has communicated with me."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to be nomadic, but have recently set roots down in Salt Lake City. I'm recently married, and we've got three awesome dogs.
I believe in building networks and connections with people to depend on each other as each of us travels and seeks our own adventure. I love the possibilities of exchanging not only couches but ideas!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couch surfing experience was in Boulder, CO. Since then, I have surfed more and more couches, and am trying to become more active in the community. My best experience was in Costa Rica, where my host not only picked me up from the airport and helped me exchange money, he bought me lunch and gave me a great welcome to his country!

Music, Movies, and Books

A lot of travel literature, adventure non-fiction, biographies, bike touring and John Muir/Richard Proeneke type books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite experiences have been my bike touring along the Oregon border, in Utah, and in Colorado. I'm working on making it more of a lifestyle than a hobby.

This fall I went on my first international trip by myself to a Costa Rica/Nicaragua. I hadn't spoke Spanish in a really long time, and it was difficult at first. After some time, I finally got into the groove of international travel, and learned to step away from the tourists and closer to the locals. This trip really opened my eyes to the origin and production process of food that is used/abused in the United States. I am very thankful for the international awareness that I gained on this trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn AND teach, so I'd love to teach/learn from you!
I am excellent at listening to people, so if you need a shoulder to lean on, I am here for you.
I have a big mouth and love to talk about something if it's worth talking about, so if you need publicity, I'm your woman.
