About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn more and to live better. I want to learn how to stop wasting time, how to appreciate life more; I want to come to a better understanding of what matters in life and where meaning can be found. In practice (at least for me, at this point in my life), this amounts to a thirst for novel, unfamiliar, and enriching experiences (a thirst not only for those experiences which I've lived through first hand, but also those that have been documented and dissected by those that have come before me, those who have engaged in the very search I'm engaging in now, and who have perhaps been better equipped to distill meaning from them).

ABOUT ME

I try to live my life as slowly as possible, lest I miss out on something important.

PHILOSOPHY

Virginia Woolf believed in something she called "moments of being." A moment of being is a moment where reality is revealed to you; it´s as if reality were a precious gem hidden by a veil of a thick fabric and was suddenly exposed. These moments are ones of profound revelation, where a truth about life is experienced and felt, these moments stay with you forever and change and alter who you are as a person. In our usual state of being -- moments of "non-being" -- we are unnattentive to life and it´s hidden treasures. Experiences pass us by unnoticed by us, unexplored, without being contemplated. They may be as simple as a sunset, one which may seem to me at the moment as profoundly beautiful, or which seems to capture something magnificent, other-worldly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bethlehem Steel plant, the largest steel manufacturing plant in its day, which was located 5 minutes walking distance from where I studied for 4 years, and which I would watch in awe on almost a daily basis, until, only after graduation, I jumped the fence and explored it. It was then that I learned that you don´t have to travel thousands of miles for an amazing experience or pay hundreds of dollars; that usually, great adventures are hiding right under your nose, and all you need to uncover them is an open mind and a certain way of looking at things -- every door can be opened, the only limits to your world are those that you impose yourself.
