About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to expand my collection of incredible life experiences

ABOUT ME

I am a liberal hippy redneck T minus 1 year from graduating medical school. I grew up in Knob Noster, MO (population: 2,462) but I have spent the past 5 years at the UMKC School of Medicine in Kansas City, and I wake up nearly every day excited to be doing what I am doing, which is truly incredible. I am obsessed with summer, and all things outdoors. I Love Country music. I love biking, hiking, climbing, horseback riding, swimming, running, volleyball, and canoeing/rafting (especially in the form of a float trip). I am completely OBSESSED with ice cream. When I retire I want to sell everything I own, buy an Airstream, and travel the world (yes, the whole world. In an Airstream. I'll make it happen). I am exhausted by the idea of "routine" and confused by the idea of "normal." I am in awe of the people I am lucky enough to experience on a daily basis. Someday I will live in a different country and practice medicine without giving a thought to lawsuits, or health insurance, or a paycheck. Someday I will publish a book that will most likely be terrible and contribute nothing to society.

PHILOSOPHY

Really, I have several: Work hard, play harder, sleep when your dead. And yeah, I live it. Live now, pay later. Paying off loans is what my 60s are for. My most revered philosophy: It doesn't matter if it was fun, freaky, fantastic, terrifying, terrific, humiliating, horrifying, or boring as hell as long as you got a story out of it. I have collection of awkward, hilarious, incredible, moving, and life changing moments. I expand this collection every day, and try not to let any treasure of a moment slip by unnoticed. I try to take nothing for granted, but I know it's impossible. All days, even the sucky ones, are full of blessings.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The world is like Wal-Mart, and health care workers are like those old people in the vests standing at the doors. We are the first ones to greet you when you enter, and the ones to wish you well as you leave. With that in mind I think you can imagine the amazing things I've seen.
