Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Great way to meet new folks and see what I may be normally be missing while getting insights into the world around me. Obviously a great way to save money as well.

Interests

Art, fabrication, home renovation. My wife and are are finishing up a total renovation of a 1937 craftsman bungalow in beautiful Tallahassee, FL.

In both my life and art, I'm interested in looking beyond merely dressing something up, I enjoy the challenges involved with bringing the overlooked to the forefront - seeing what others do not or cannot.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any music that is fresh and progressive is great, but I'm also happy to listen to emotionally charged music from bands like Explosions in the Sky. Also guilt pleasure music creeps in from time to time.

Movies - something thought provoking and a classic always fits the bill, while eye candy blockbusters are a nice way to sit and be entertained from time to time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 44 years old, I changed my life - I went back to school to pursue my MFA in sculpture... I've never regretted it!

Teach, Learn, Share

As an artist, I have travelled extensively for artist residencies - most recently, I hiked from Alaska into the Yukon as the Artist in residence on the Chilkoot Trail. Along the way I virtually (digitally) gathered objects that I am now reconstituting as sculptural forms.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My life experience involves being born in the U.S. but growing up abroad - returning at 17 years old. Since then I have lived all over the country and look to these experiences as fuel for my art and positive outlook on life.

I'm well versed in many forms of digital fabrication (laser cutting, 3D printing etc) and am currently interested in digitally "collecting" people I meet as digital files that I can then work with ...interested?
