À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

To be alive, and to share life with others, to laugh and play, to drink and dance, to love and be loved, to think and explore and to learn and create, to follow my emotion guided by my reason.. to meet YOU!

ABOUT ME

I`m 22 and currently travelling around the world for 6 months, all on my lonesome, but having heaps of fun and meeting many very nice and cool people along the way. Back home (in Australia) I was studying at university and completed my Bachelor of Arts at the end of last year, one possible scenario when I return home after this trip is to do honours in Environmental Studies and try and get a job within the Sustainable-Environment-Development industry (if I`m lucky...and work hard of course :).
Take me rock climbing, bike riding, swimming, surfing or just out for a good cup of coffee or tea and I`ll be a very happy man, you can even forget the coffee and keep it at good company and I`ll be having a great time..

PHILOSOPHY

To live, to love, to learn and to be honest to myself. Do what my heart tells me and try not to let my head become too over-involved. Be happy, dance, think and argue, debate, reason and resolve differences, be generous and honest and forgive before condeming, patience. To find, discover love. Music and arts, games and tv, community. Exploration of ideas and the world. To live in light not darkness and to see the world living the same way.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I learnt of couch surfing from a good friend that I met travelling, and he introduced me to the concept of staying with people who live in the countries we travel to which is a fantastic idea. So far I have experienced much more from participating in CouchSurfing in different countries than I would have ever expected, and it made me reflect on what it would be like to give another traveller back home in Australia the same experience, which is probably an experience that one cannot have without knowing someone who lives and breathes that countries culture. For sure I could and will help to give them my perspecitve on Australian culture and the land that I am from.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As I am very new to CouchSurfing I have only had limited experience being hosted and no experience hosting. That said however the experiences I have had have been nothing short of engaging and enlightening, and I have taken much more from my hosts than just a couch, learning about myself (dorky but it`s true!) and engaging with cultures and philosophies that help me understand the world and the people in it. It has also helped reinforce the notion that we can all share what we have in an effort to produce a more cohesive society through the exchage of ideas and culture.

Centres d'intérêt

I really enjoy different sport´s (playing and watching AFL (Australian Football League, if you don`t know it check it out, because its possibly one of the most professional and althetic sports out there, not to be confused with global ¨football¨ i.e. soccer though), cricket, soccer and many outdoor activities - bushwalking, bike riding, rollerblading (even if it`s not cool anymore!!) and just relaxing in the warm sun (preferably on the beach or by a pool). I also get into politics, the environment, `Sustainability`, development and enjoy a good discussion of ideas. I also have done some drama and acting which can be very exhilerating and film production and direction (not for a while now) which I find very intereting and fun. Also get into a bit of photography where I can..

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I fell in love on a train in the space of two minutes at the age of 15, and while I didn`t have enough courage or good game plan to go up to the girl who was sitting with her mother and two sisters, I will never forget that feeling, which I assume is what people refer to as ¨love at first sight¨.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I`ll say one thing that I find to be true about everything in life, that many of us overlook or assume or ignore and create agression and disruption through not understanding a basic fact of our collective lives: we are people, and although we have reason, we are not always reasoned, nor should we always be expected to be reasoned.

Many of us, especially those with very strong opinions try to dictate other people`s lives based on our own assumptions and understandings, and we can get very angry and very dismissive of those people that do not act in accordance with or oppose our beliefs. But, all these assumptions are based on our own reasoning, and assume that other people will or should reason the same way. To be fair, we are not perfect, yet we hold high standards of belief and expectations of other people regardless of how they see themselves in this world.

Be patient and don`t patronise other people with different beliefs, you`ll go a lot further in understanding them and having them understand you.
