ABOUT ME

I like travelling, but I'm really frugal. I went to university in Ontario and then I moved to Beijing with my boyfriend, where we taught ESL for a year. We're looking to do the same in Thailand (hopefully for longer than a year!). I'm really chill and often irreverent, and I enjoy hanging out with people. I'm not an avid party-goer but I'll still have fun at one. Also, I'm immensely forgetful, but thankfully I have a boyfriend to combat this.

PHILOSOPHY

I went to school for philosophy! Mostly, have fun. And eat food. Cookies *help* cure cancer.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my own account, finally! I've been travelling with my mum for years, but I'm striking out on my own now, so I've got a personal account. Yay!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've hosted a bunch of people before! From Germany, the US, Russia, all over. Most people are really really cool and I'm pretty sure we've only had one negative experience, but we're not stopping! My mother is Katt Tolley/Borrowman and she has dragged me everywhere. We have couchsurfed in Germany and she got to couchsurf in Manhattan! I am jealous. Couchsurfing has definitely helped me get out of some tight spots, as well as meet great new friends.

Interests

We mostly spend our time as basement-dwellers on the Internet, but have no qualms with socializing. I do so love travelling, and often crave it (especially when I'm living in Canada). I like games and conventions and nerds in general. I dislike shopping. I love food, passionately. Seriously. Way into my heart - via food. My cats are my babies. Josh is really into Magic: The Gathering and he has a ton of cards with him at all times, so if you want to give it a go or are a player yourself, feel free to mention it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything Tim Burton! Books by Stephen Fry, Tamora Pierce, Bernard Cornwell. Classic horrors, like Dracula. Stuff like that. I like almost all the music! Bawww Christopher Hitchens debates are the bee's knees.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whenever I go to a place expecting it to be terrible somehow and it's amazing instead. Like Mexico City, which I thought would be a massive bowl of pollutants and poverty, but it's actually one of the most beautiful places in Latin America I've ever been to. Other times included climbing a volcano and roasting marshmallows at the top in Mexico, both safaris I've been on, stuff like that. Once Josh hitchhiked all across Canada with 0 dollars!
