About Me

Hi there! I'm laid-back, simple, and easy to get along with. I'm sorry if I'm bad at responding to you sometimes. I run around all the time and sometimes hide in the woods and my phone is not always with me. Feel free to bug me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love new experiences, traveling, and meeting good people, and I love the idea of using technology to build community.

Interests

Running, backpacking, hiking, camping, fishing, farming, random roadtrips, ad-hoc getaways - anything outside really and in nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm pretty plain jane when it comes to music so I can listen to the same things over and over and over again: the Bad Plus, Avett Brothers, Black Keys, Cake, Muse, Wood Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd (I just googled the spelling), etc...

Nowadays there's about 5 types of books I read: behaviorial psychology (why people do the things they do is super fascinating to me), self-improvement, adventure books based on true events, gardening, and Kurt Vonnegut.

I love podcasts! My favorites are Planet Money, Freakonomics, and Ted Talks.

Is it bad to admit that I just watched Tropic Thunder for the first time and couldn't stop laughing? I don't know if could watch it again though...ehhh who am I kidding. I totally would.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took over a year off of work and just traveled and promised myself I would just go and do anything that I ever wanted to do. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do of course, but because of that I realized that we, as humans, can do or have anything we want with the right mindset - to put it simply. Taking time off of work completely shifted the way I function in this world and now that I'm back working a "conventional" job, my life outside of work is so much more rewarding.

Also, I don't know how to tell my terribly sweet, sweet neighbors that knock on my door every month and give me a snack-size bag of peppermint candies with a invitation to their monthly church potluck that I recycle the invitation and throw away the candies every time I close the door. I re-use the snack-size bag though!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My friends tell me I'm an awesome dishwasher. I will wash the heck out of your dishes if you let me :).

I also love to cook and bake, maybe I can make you flourless banana/blueberry pancakes for breakfast? (don't judge me! I love bread more than you know (no joke, my family owns a bakery), but these babies are delicious) Here's the recipe in case you're interested in trying it yourself: mashed bananas/almond flour/chia seeds/baking powder/blueberries/pinch of salt/eggs. Maple syrup/butter on top is required.
