About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Keeping the main thing the main thing.
ABOUT ME
I have on a backpack full of clothes, books, and toiletry items. I'm on a train or bus, pulling up to a place that I know nothing about. I'm about to take my first step out, not knowing which way to go. I'll follow the crowd until I get out of the train or bus station. I walk out and see sunlight and buildings that are older than any one building in my home country. I'm a little nervous, a little scared, but I've got the biggest smile possible on my sunlit face. This is why I travel, this is why my heart beats.
PHILOSOPHY
"For what it's worth, it's never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit... start whenever you want... you can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that stop you. I hope you feel things that you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life that you're proud of and if you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
- Jon Krakauer
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." -- Thomas Jefferson
"Certainly, travel is more than the seeing of sights, it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living."
-Miriam Beard
"...no matter how you travel, how 'successful' your tour, or fore-shortened, you always learn something and learn to change your thoughts."
-Jack Kerouac

One amazing thing?
Probably the fact that no matter the culture, no matter the geographical location, we're all the same in the fact that we just want love, food, work, and shelter.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a head full of informal theories and ideas that I could discuss for days. I can teach how to make some mean klobasneks, migas, pizza, and Thai curry as well.
