ABOUT ME
I wear sunscreen in the winter, burn in 3 minutes and love my job! For the last 4 years I've been employed at a local tourist attraction in Vancouver as their Wardrobe and Theming Coordinator. The highlight of my job is sharing Vancouver with people from all over the world. I love being able to pass on Vancouver's best kept secrets so everyone can have a chance to be a "local". I've worked as a pastry chef and as an Entertainer, although I have yet to find a job that combines both professions. Originally from a small town in the Kootenays I grew up hiking, sailing, canoeing and camping. I can sleep anywhere and I'm always thrilled to meet someone new!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd love to pass on all of the local haunts and give the insiders scoop on what there is to do in this rainy but wonderful city!
Interests
I went to University for Acting and Costume Design, and while neither of these pursuits will result in my owning a yacht, I'm so fortunate to have studied something I love. I now work as a Costume/Clothing Deisgner, Theming Coordinator and Merchandiser in Vancouver. I love DIY projects, I'm obsessed with the Christmas Holidays (my best friend and I start celebrating in November) and I stress bake. Last week I built a fort in the bedroom and ate cheese, crackers and champagne, this week I'm taking up Roller Skating because I want to join a roller derby team by the end of the year. I will get up at any hour to watch football/soccer and I dream about Saturday Brunch all week. I have an amazing, warm and welcoming family and their support of even my most ridiculous ideas is inspiring.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to pretend that all of the TV shows I watch are for "research" but honestly I just love a well crafted story. Right now I'm mourning Game of Thrones and Sherlock until the new seasons start, and passing my summer catching up on Community.
People always suggest reading before bed to help you fall asleep, but I'll stay up till 3 with a good book. So books are banished from the nightstand for now. But my favourites are The Hobbit, LOTR, I Capture the Castle and I have read a LOT of Terry Pratchett in my time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-When I was 14 my best friend and I built a small row boat. We would go sailing every summer with her family around the San Juan and Gulf Islands, so the row boat enabled us to expore on our own once the sailboat had dropped anchor. One afternoon we took the row boat out a little further than we'd planned. When an ore struck something hard we began to panic, thinking we'd gone over rocks and damaged the boat. But when we looked over the side of the boat to see what we'd struck the alleged "rock" stared right back at us. We had hit a killer whale. I suppose it should have been a moment of serenity to coast through a pod of orcas, but at 14 we werent thinking about the majesty of the situation, but rather the fact that perhaps we should have put more time in to making our craft seaworthy. In the end the killer whale seemed unconcerned with our obvious lack of skill, but we spent the next few weeks believing we had almost died.
-I accidentally walked in to Uma Thurman on Granville Island. Enough said.
..I didnt mean for both these stories to involve me hitting things...
