About Me
Hi, there!!
My name is Keiran. I’m an artist/ documentary photographer base in Xindian, Taipei. I graduated with a fine art major, specializing in realism oil and watercolour painting, and have always been fond of arts in general. I also learned to play the violin and joined orchestras in my younger years. Right now, I spend most my days cooking, gardening, planning exhibitions in our studio with my partner Ai, spending the rest making drawings and photography. We also have a son, Kody. He’s a chocolate colour dog. We walk him twice everyday.
Ai, is an artist specializing in visual arts, experimental arts, writing, theatre and on-screen acting. He’s half-Pakistanis and half-Taiwanese, lived most of his childhood in Shenzhen, China, and Hong Kong. He traveled to America to study arts before moving back to Taiwan. We now live in the military housing Ai’s grandfather had passed on, and after years of maintenances, we had reconstructed it into an art salon, “The Lair 巢穴”.
【 巢穴 THE LAIR 】
The Lair is an “Art Salon.”
The word “Salon” first appeared in 16th century Italy. It described a space open to discussion, storytelling, and artistic gatherings.
A “Salon” operates similarly to a “Tea House,” “Bar,” or “Club.” In a salon, however, seats are not assigned and patrons are free to explore. They are encouraged to exchange views and share their experiences.
The Lair, a Xindian salon, is based in a former military residence with over 70 years of history. A young artist couple runs the salon and maintains its unique atmosphere.
Over 160 species of plants occupy The Lair. The Lair’s good boy, Kody, and his snake roommate, Sydney, welcome guests to the salon.
In addition to tea, wine, and tasty treats, The Lair offers a variety of services. Purchase of antique furniture, Japanese instruments, house plants, and artwork is available. The salon also provides dining-in and Tarot card reading services.
The Lair is an all-friendly environment. Guests of all ages (or species!) are welcome. And the salon thrives to meet the needs of its guests.
The quality of conversation in The Lair is no less valued than that of the salon’s food and drink.
We have tea, wine, and stories. Would you care to join us?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In high school, I was very fortunate to have two years of experience abroad as exchange student in the US and UK. I find it best learning cultures from the locals, hearing from them, sharing ideas, understanding how one’s view the world. And I think there’s no better way to start a cultural conversation than Couchsurfing!
