Hello there! I am a traveler at heart and hope to expand my horizons even more. I am a renter in a shared house and cannot host right now, but hope to do so in the future.
My most recent decade of life has been spent with highly paid executive and we traveled a bit when she had the time. That relationship, and our travels are over now, but that will not stop my love of seeing the world we live in. I have visited all of the 50 US states and a handful of countries but, I still want more.
I lived in Alaska in 2024 to work as a autobus driver and tour guide and then hope to teach English in Madrid, Spain for a season before really traveling seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Recent changes in my life have pushed me to go after a life that has been put on hold for too long. I never made much money in life, but I did spend it working hard to raise good children and trying make spouses happy -- with mixed success. Now that this time has past, I am ready to travel the world and share my life with new people. I hope that my many experiences with travel, mountain climbing, trekking, sports triumphs, and teaching English will make for good conversation and shared stories.

I love meeting new people and learning about what makes them happy and successful. These past months in Madrid I have learned that a very, very long walk is the best way to really get to know a place.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the Blues, Classic Rock and 1980's music.
I have read every word published by Ernest Hemingway and always love to teach the classics or the Cannon of English Literature.
Most movies are fine, but I don't watch too many of them. All-time favorite movie is Chariots of Fire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Over the course of about 7 years I climbed to the top of more than 500 mountains. Yes, it was hard, but the logistics of traveling and finding the peaks was sometimes more of a challenge than the hiking.
