About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Put de heathen back dey 'pon de wall

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Zagreb, seen much but not enough. I still plan to travel as much as I can afford and as much as my other interests let me.
I've got a Masters in Geography at University of Zagreb, sometimes I'm working as a tour leader around Croatia. Mainly leading grade school and high school children all across our nation's landmarks, cultural and natural heritage sites.

I teach geography in a grade school. It puts food on the table, but I'm not sure it's my dream job :-) Although, kids can be pretty cool.

I play drums in a reggae band. Rastaman vibration - positive!

PHILOSOPHY

Bolje ispast glup nego iz tramvaja. It's a bit hard to translate... hahaha

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There's no point writing positive experiences here once again. All of my friends are my positive experiences, so just look at the references we left each other.

And PLEASE (a note for my hosts, not guests):
Please, please, please...if you can't or won't host me, just tell me that, directly or just make an excuse. Don't ignore my request, I would really appreciate it. 1love

Interests

Uh..lots of stuff...but best we get to know each other, and then we can talk about each other's interests...I think that's fair.

I love reggae vinyl and I'm trying not to spend every last dime I own on buying used records. It's like a drug addiction, I tell you!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - reggae music, ska, soul, jazz...anything that's good. But sweet reggae music is my passion... The great thing with reggae is that you can find out about a great artist every day, like I do...each day I hear something new... Just can't get enough of it!

Movies - just as music...anything that's good. Old ones from Soviet times, Yugoslavian movies, as much of them that aren't made in Hollywood, Romanian and Brazilian cinema (it surprises me how good they are)...trying not to think good movies only come from US of A, as some may suggest. I like Eisenstein, Dovzhenko, Almodovar, Bertolucci, Kurosawa, Miyazaki but also Welles, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Anderson, Spike Lee etc. A big fan of Japanese cinema altogether.

I'm a huge Dragon Ball fan...KAAA-MEEEE-HAAA-MEEE-HA! And I almost forgot One Piece! Oh, how I love that show... But nothing compares to South Park! If you want to stay at my place, prepare to get to know South park in a way you never imagined...

Books - Mother (Gorky), Tikhiy Don, Roots - Saga of an American Family, Uncle Tom's Cabin, All Quiet on the Western Front... 20th century Yugoslavian and Russian writers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Huh... well, I've arm-wrestled a drunk Russian in a sandwich (shaorma) bar in Saint Petersburg, managed to get a taxi driver stuck in the sand desert in Azerbaijan (following my directions) and listened to a 50-year old guy tell jokes to two Armenian students in a train for the whole night... and got through all of that with a smile :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love my town and I can always show people around with passion. But, when traveling somewhere, be sure to try to know what you can see there, like museums or some historical landmarks. Zagreb has something to offer, too.

If you want to get to know Zagreb, I can help you in most ways, because I know a lot of things about my city. If I don't know something, I know someone who does know. There are stuff to do in Zagreb for at least a day and a half, and more if the weather is nice and you are up for some adventure.
