About Me

I'm 28. I'm a statistics nerd who's obsessed with travelling. I read every night before bed. I play in a party punk band that only writes drinking songs, featuring works such as: "I Like to Drink", "I'm Sleeping in the Bar Tonight", and "Party Away Your Problems". I play tons of weird indie board games. I believe in ghosts. I laugh easily. If you tell a joke, I will probably think it's funny. Even bad jokes I think are funny.

This summer I'll be travelling around Europe with my boyfriend, Torre. Since he's part of the package deal for our upcoming adventure, I'll tell you a bit about him as well. He's almost 31. He's a 2nd grade school teacher. He also plays in the party punk band as well as his own other weird freak pop bands (he's actually an extremely talented dance beat drummer as well as singer and guitarist and musician in general). He tells lots of bad jokes which is probably why I'm still dating him. He has a beard. He kind of looks like a gazelle when he runs (very dainty toes).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I couchsurfed in Europe three times back in 2010 and absolutely fell in love with the experience. At the time, I did it because I was a broke undergraduate student trying to stretch my dollar as far as it would go. However, I quickly found that meeting locals and fellow travelers completely changed my overall experience. These experiences became invaluable to me and this community such a welcome reminder of the innate goodness and kindness of others (especially in our world today where there seems to be so much hate and fear). It is humbling to travel the world in this way. I'm excited to be back sharing experiences and meeting all the wonderful, open-hearted people that make up this community!

Torre has never couchsurfed before so this will be his first time : )

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I'm love memoirs. A Long Way Gone is a great book. Also - it's not a memoir - but The Book Thief is a great story that's beautifully and creatively written. Then there's the classic Harry Potter series (is it old enough to be classic yet?) And the Song of Ice and Fire series too... so many theories! Ahh!

Music: Lately I've been travelling back a few decades for my music jam dance sessions. A lot of The Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, and Paul Simon (sometimes with Garfunkel).

Movies: I'm not a big movie person because I don't tend to have the attention span to sit for long periods, but I do love The Hobbit. I'm also pretty obsessed with The Force Awakens :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling around Europe the semester that I studied abroad was easily the most exciting and eye-opening time of my life. There were so many crazy adventures had, so many random people met, and so much general spontaneity filling every day with surprises. I'd never felt so alive before in all my life. And among all the chaos in that huge whirlwind of a journey, I found myself hiking along the most beautiful cliff-side Italian coastline. The memory of exploring that land and feeling so connected with myself and with the universe as I sucked on lemons straight off the trees still amazes me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm eager to learn and love talking to people with different experiences, outlooks, and ideas. If I can, I would love to be able to teach you something in return.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook for you! Trade stories. Buy you a drink or bring you wine. Torre can sing and play guitar/ drums if you have them available. Teach you some Spanish. Recommend good books. Do your statistics homework :) Bahahaha
