Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted a bit in New Orleans and quite a bit in Savannah. I have been lucky enough to surf with some awesome people in Tasmania, France, Spain, and the US. I host when I can because I enjoy helping people out to keep costs down while traveling and because I like meeting new people, especially people from around the world who have new ideas, languages, and food to share.

He hospedado un poco en Nueva Orleans, Louisiana y bastante en Savannah, Georgia. He tenido suerte de quedarme con gente maravillosa en Tasmania, Francia, España, y los EEUU. Alojo a los couchsurfers cuando puedo porque me gusta ayudarle a la gente a viajar sin gastar mucho y porque me encanta conocer a personas nuevas, particularmente las personas de otras partes del mundo que tienen ideas, idiomas, y comida para compartir.

Interests

I love traveling, eating (especially spicy food), playing soccer, dancing salsa, reading, growing food, bicycles, and meeting new people. I like to talk about things, especially gender, culture, sociology, environmental issues and dumb funny stuff.

Me encanta viajar, comer (particularmente la comida picante), jugar fútbol, bailar salsa, leer, cultivar vegetales, las bicicletas, y conocer a la gente. Me gusta conversar, especialmente sobre el género, la cultura, la sociología, temas ambientales, y cosas tontas/ divertidas.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read mostly nonfiction, about different topics I'm trying to learn about, language, farming, social/ environmental issues, places I'm traveling to, ect. Two of my favorite fiction authors are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Barbara Kingsolver

I'm not big into movies, but I really like comedy television- Insecure, Atlanta, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, The Mindy Project, Kimmy Schmidt, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex Girlfriend ect

I love latin music, especially salsa. I like bluegrass and instrumental hip hop as well.

Leo mayormente la no ficción, sobre temas de los que estoy aprendiendo, como los idiomas, la agricultura, temas sociales/ ambientales, los lugares a donde voy a viajar, ect. Dos de mis escritoras de ficción favoritas son Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie y Barbara Kingsolver.

No sé mucho de películas, pero me gustan las series de comedia.

Me encanta la música latina, la salsa en particular. Me gusta el bluegrass y el hip-hop instrumental también.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach English or Spanish, salsa dancing, and like to cook. I love learning new recipes and am working on learning French.

Podría enseñar inglés o español, bailar salsa, y me gusta cocinar. Me encanta aprender nuevas recetas y estoy aprendiendo francés.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to contribute something when I surf- usually food and/or drink. I usually have produce from the farm I'm working on to share. I have been known to cook for hosts when the occasion presents itself. I love practicing languages so if you're interested in speaking Spanish or French I'm down. Going salsa dancing in new cities is one of my favorite things to do, so if you're interested in learning a bit and/or tagging along I could help with that too. I also love staying in and playing Settlers of Catan (a pretty nerdy board game), usually with a good beer or bourbon, so if you want to learn how to play I'd be happy to teach you.

Me gusta traer algo a compartir cuando participo en couchsurfing- normalmente comida y/o bebida. Muchas veces tengo vegetales de la granja en donde trabajo para compartir. A veces cocino para mis anfitriones cuando es conveniente para tod@s. Me gusta practicar los idiomas entonces si te interesa hablar español o francés estaría encantada. Salir a bailar salsa en ciudades que no conozco es una de mis actividades favoritas, entonces si te interesa ir conmigo sería bienvenido. También estoy contenta a quedarme en casa y conversar o jugar algo, muchas veces con una buena cerveza o burbón.
