ABOUT ME

I grew up in Iowa City, IA, home of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, but have done a lot of traveling. Worked many seasonal jobs and been fortunate enough to have some pretty neat experiences.

Summer 2012 I worked as a wildlife employee for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources - I have some great stories to share, trust me.

Just spent 3 months as a hydrogeology intern for the US Forest Service and got to explore many parts of Oregon and the West Coast... love those trees!

I also like football. And basketball. And I really love beer. Especially beer.

Currently in San Luis Obispo, CA plunking around the state being a geologist for an environmental consulting firm.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just surfed for the first time over Thanksgiving Break - super great. My host was awesome, the couch was comfy, it was swell! Looking forward to doing it MORE in the future!

Interests

Horseback riding (dressage, show jumping). Ridden horses for 17 years, learning classical dressage now which is AWESOME. I have played Ultimate Frisbee for 8 years and been to the Nationals tournament 3 times. Competitive Ultimate is way way way harder than most people think. Seriously. Youtube some vids out there.

I'm also a naturally curious person and LOVE to hear about how people ended up where they are today. Travel, experiences, jobs, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked in Alaska as a geologist for a month in an incredibly remote location. Gave me a much greater appreciation for a simple life, and nature. Sounds cliche, but really.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach: anything about horses and anything about the environment! Know a lot about Iowa, agriculture, the midwest, and have had plenty of travels to Oregon, Colorado, Florida, the midwest in general, etc.
