About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how to live differently from the normal "school, work, marry, settle down, have kids" I want to experience more than that and to meet crazy cool people in one of the hippest cities in the world ^__^.

ABOUT ME

A new traveler but I have a few countries under my belt now, I'm just getting started and excited to learn new things. I was a psychology and sociology major so I'm interested in culture and traditions. I'm 26 and would really like to begin learning how to live and do things that most people dream of doing. I'm Haitian but born in Miami and live in New York. I work as a scientist at a Pharma company in New York and am in a Masters in Clinical Research.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe i am an ordinary person, with ordinary skills and ordinary achievements. But I would like to do the upper limits of what ordinary people can accomplish. In other words, extraordinary things that ordinary people can do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started my couchsurfing experience in Boracay Philippines, I've couchsurfed in Tokyo and Puerto Rico. I had this cool experience of hosting my Tokyo host in my house in New York. I'm connected through Facebook and active on it so its easy to verify me and contact me if need be. I've been hosting people since I've moved out to Astoria (NYC is only a few subway stops away) so I know the CS experience from both ends which I think makes me an ideal host or surfer since I know the little things that I can do that make a big impact on how well the stay goes.

Interests

New experiences. I would like to do a lot of physical activities that countries have to offer. Cultural dances and traditions, Cliff diving, water sports, temples, hot springs, hiking. I can ballroom dance and I learned how to social dance too so I would like to salsa, cha cha, salsa, bachata and meringue in a bunch of countries. I'm obsessed with board games and strategy games so I staying in and playing monopoly or chess all night is equally as fun as going out to a venue.

Music, Movies, and Books

I absolutely love jazz, I listen to all the greats Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, etc. I also love instrumental music whatever genre it may be in especially classical, I listen to r&b and hip hop a decent amount. I love latin jazz, cuban salsa, Reggaeton, bachata and meringue music. And I've been getting into reggae after listening to bob marley for years! Afrobeats is on repeat right now.

I don't watch many movies but I watch a lot of anime and read manga. I read comics as well so I'm a DC fan but I really like indie comics like Saga, East of West, Sandman, Deadly Class, etc. My favorite anime are Full Metal Alchemist (Brotherhood), Samurai Shamploo, Stein's gate, Soul Eater, Legend of Korra gets honorary mention haha.
I love a lot of books...too many to list. I love the book thief, the kite runner, water for elephants

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived getting hit by a van going 40mph
Studied abroad in Hong Kong
Went to Japan (My favorite country) (anime...related lol)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really adamant when it comes to learning new cultures. As my majors imply I like people and culture. I know there is a lot to learn from a simple conversation to a conversation about life, love, work, pain etc. I want to absorb all the lessons people have to teach me and I believe I can get people to critically think about their own lives and how it is benefiting them or harming them. I also simply want to experience life, I'm at a point in my life where I have little commitment and can take the opportunity to travel and learn about the world before I'm tied down with responsibility. I noticed that most couchsurfers are those who try to experience the most out of the world and its people so we are like-minded people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer stimulating conversations about anything that can get us to learn about each other and ourselves. I can teach my hosts how to dance anything from tango to salsa. I can teach how to play chess!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan

Countries I’ve Lived In
