Overview
About Me
I just studied abroad in New Zealand and am traveling into July 2019; learned about Maori Indigenous knowledge and sovereignty as well as how that knowledge is tied to colonial notions of sustainable communities and permaculture.
I'm an avid solo traveler who appreciates both getting outside for wild, all-day adventures and wandering through local communities. Preferably water, mud, and/or a bit of type 2 fun are involved at some point. One of my future goals is to only travel in ways that don't further degrade (e.g. walking, sailing, hitching, etc.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To share the places I know, meet up with people I've met while traveling, and share ideas. I've hitchhiked, budget traveled, and bummed around quite a bit and appreciate the more authentic experience it often gives, as well as its ability to renew a bit of faith in humanity.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently really enjoying Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Estes, Wandering by M.R. O'Connor, Cat's Cradle, You'll Grow Out of It by Jessi Klein, and Talking Sideways about Finniss Springs. Different books for different moods lol. Books about navigating, walking, comedy, philosophy, and indigenous knowledges really interest me.
The podcasts by Ductape and Beer. I really enjoyed the Tracks movie/book by Robyn Davidson. Just read Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and it was really good. The Tao of Pooh, The Art of Happiness, The Alchemist, Solitude by Michael Harries, and Wanderlust: A History of Walking by Rebecca Solnit are all good!
Oh gosh I haven't even mentioned music or movies.
Movies, I like indie and foreign films. My inner hipster has Wes Anderson and Hayao Miyazaki as favorite directors. I've seen way too many environmentalist documentaries, and now try to avoid their anxiety.
Music, couldn't sum it up here. I love hearing all of the sounds of the world. I listen to a lot of indie stuff here as well, often with a dreamy or beachy influence. I once went a month listening solely to a psychedelic cumbia and S. American oldies playlist. Love to see live music of all sorts, and perhaps even get to dancing a bit.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) solo in 2017!
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy getting super down people to go on super crazy adventures : ]
I know how to cook some things, make some basic jewelry, do some sketches, ultralight backpack, some rock climbing. I really like to experience/exchange local music, food, and art-- and anything new really.
