Why hello there! I'm Kelly, an avid traveler and outdoors woman. I recently made a significant leap and moved out to Utah where I have a seasonal internship. As mentioned, I have a strong passion for exploring everything outdoors, from a game of basketball or soccer to hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and everything in between. I enjoy meeting and getting to know people, whether it be for a ten minute conversation or a one month backpacking trip together, I believe we can all learn a lot from each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I am a newbie at this, many family and friends have had great experiences with couch surfing and have encouraged me to sign up. They all have nothing but great things to say about everyone they meet. I plan to spend as much time as I can traveling not only around the U.S., but also internationally and would love the opportunity to meet locals who can show me a thing or two about my places of interest!

Interests

As mentioned before, I have a passion for the outdoors. I love to hike and slack line the most, although would love to get into rock climbing/bouldering. I played sports most of my life, including college, so I enjoy getting out for any sort of pick-up game. I also enjoy cooking and baking (although I have a lot of room to improve), reading, and learning about food, beer ,and wine. I am open-minded when it comes to experiencing new opportunities.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is all over the place and it often depends on my mood. I am a fan of everything from Eddie Vedder, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Local Natives to some pop culture music like Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift to country like Eric Church, Keith Urban, etc. My favorite movie and book are one in the same: Into the Wild. But I enjoy a wide variety of movies and books, but will most often choose to read a book over watch a movie. My all-time favorite show is Impractical Jokers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While studying abroad in Christchurch, New Zealand, I ventured down to Queenstown, often known as the adventure capital of the world. There, I bungee jumped for the first (and only time so far) in my life. The sport originated there, and coaxing my body into taking the leap and plunge 400 feet towards the ground was one of the more difficult things I have done. But after the first second, it was pure joy and adrenaline. I couldn't stop smiling the entire time, and I realized that although scared at first, taking that leap ended up being a great experience - and it has become a constant reminder to be adventurous.
