I'm primarily a painter, but also work in ceramics and glass. I do abstracts, portraits, landscapes - oil, acrylic, watercolor - also several public art commissions in LA and Northern California.
I moved to Joshua Tree, CA 5 years ago, and started renting my place in LA on Airbnb, as well as a studio attached to my house in the desert. I got some chickens, and then two goats. Last year a bobcat or fox took out my last three chickens, and I decided to find a new home for my goats and spend some time back in the city. I started taking improv classes with the Upright Citizens Brigade, and am now on a few improv teams, doing occasional stand up, and story-telling at the Moth and other shows.
I still spend time out in Joshua Tree, and visit my goats - who just had babies!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet new people - gearing up for a solo trip to Italy, going to check out the Venice Biennale. I have an extra bedroom that usually isn't used, so I thought it might be nice to host travelers once and a while.

Mostly listen to jazz and classical.
Favorite authors: Henry Miller, Steinbeck, Fante, Carver, Bukowski, Sedaris.
Random favorite movies: Jaws, Amadeus, Napoleon Dynamite, Rushmore, Big Lebowski (all Coen brothers, actually), Hitchcock - Rope, Strangers on a train,... A few years ago I started a VHS collection which has gotten pretty big - I often find them at thrift stores for 25 cents!

Teach, Learn, Share

Art background - painting, photography (darkroom or digital), printmaking, metalworking, ceramics, stained glass & glass fusing, mosaics.
I've owned 4 different boutiques, and learned a lot about starting and running a small business.
I helped an old boyfriend build a house from the ground up - from the foundation to tiling the floors and counters. I'm pretty good at tiling - I can do drywall, various flooring, and a little plumbing (but not well).
