ABOUT ME

I grew up downtown in Toronto, but I've lived across Canada; on the east coast in Halifax and in the mountains in Banff. I've been moving around since I finished university a couple of years ago, trying to learn about different cultures and see more of the world.

I'm an easygoing and social person with a good sense of humour. I love leading a life full of good conversation and good friends. There are few things in life that I place more value on than time spent meeting people and time spent getting to know them. I am also a very accepting and open person. I come from a city and neighbourhood full of diversity in culture, race, and points of view, and I place paramount value on an open mindset.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am using couchsurfing as a way to meet locals in the places that I find myself. I have realized that the people you meet in a new place are as important to travelling as the place itself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't actually had any experiences in this community yet. But I've had great experiences receiving hospitality while hitchhiking and travelling generally, and want to meet more people who embrace that mindset.

Hard Times, Lord of The Rings, The Prince, Origin of Species, Tintin, Harry Potter, The Last of the Mohicans. Amongst many, many others (just some top of my head picks).

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Hitchhiked across Canada:
Around 20 rides, some truly memorable experiences and a lot of fascinating people. Met an awesome travelling band and slept on their floor, nearly got arrested for climbing a train bridge, thought one of my rides was going to murder me with a hunting spear (he pulled it out of his trunk to draw me a map apparently).

Rode Chicken Buses from Belize to Costa Rica:
Crammed myself on upwards of 50 re-purposed school buses and rode through most of Central America. Listened to Belizian raggae while learning about edible lizards, got lost between Guatemala and El Salvador on a ten bus/eight hour journey ending with a lovely man helping me get into San Salvador in the middle of an electrical storm, got a free meal at a little kiosk in a middle-of-nowhere bus station in Honduras and chatted with a pack of super curious bus drivers while eating it

Travelled into the Peruvian Mountains in search of a Lost Incan Village:
Rode with a friend into the Peruvian hinterland over three days in combi buses and the back of pickup-trucks. Landed in a mining town where they hadn't seen foreigners in years, had a bunch of kids follow us up a pack trail ending at an outpost 4000m up in the Andes, made it within a 30km of the site but didn't have the supplies to get all the way. An amazing experience and got to hang out at a ranger outpost in the middle of nowhere for a few days eating delicious Peruvian food
