About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to get as much out of my weekends as humanly possible!
ABOUT ME
I work in education, specifically dealing with adult students. My work and my wonderful students inspire me to be grateful for all that I have and to keep striving to see, learn and understand more.
I take great pleasure in the arts, chatting with friends over a glass of wine, dancing the night away or spending it with a good book. I believe in the following: education, open-mindedness, and maintaining a spirit of "carpe diem!"
PHILOSOPHY
The more you learn, the more you find that there is left to learn. I find the same is true with traveling. The more you see, the more you want to see.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, I am unable to host at the moment. However, I would love to help travelers in whatever way I can; I love my little corner of Pennsylvania and would love to share what I know with others! I've been shown incredible kindness by a great many people during my travels, and I'd like nothing better than to do the same for travelers that I encounter. I'm a pretty good tour guide, and if you happen to be in my city, I'd love to help you understand the area better.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Sadly, my actual experience with CS is minimal, in spite of having been a member for quite some time. Hopefully I can change this by meeting up with CSers passing through my part of the world soon!
Interests
I have a great many interests, chief among them Spanish and all things related to Spain, Latin American studies, foreign languages, feminism, and history. I am, in general, interested in the humanities. After a trip to the border between the U.S. and Mexico, I am also passionate about immigrant rights. I am also very interested in American politics, so beware! When it becomes available to me, I also love being involved in the performing arts. I think that most people are inherently pretty interesting, and I love hearing stories...especially travel stories!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I would consider my life a pretty charmed one, and I know that I am very fortunate for all that I have and while I've seen some pretty mind-blowing things, the most amazing set of experiences I've had have been afforded to me by those who've shown me kindness while I was living abroad. Living in a foreign country isn't always easy, but I've been very fortunate to have come across a lot of people who have helped me in so many ways. My goal is to do the same for others.
I'm also very proud of the work that I do. Part of my job is to help my students, who are mostly members of the immigrant community, to meet their goals in employment, education, etc. It's been life changing to watch people achieve their dreams, and humbling to be able to play a part in that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a former foreign language teacher. I have taught both Spanish and English, but I have most experience teaching English as a Second Language and helping English Language Learners. I am additionally pretty well-versed in online language learning resources. I'd be happy to sit down and do some conversational English practice, or point out some good online resources to help you practice your English.
