About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I recently lost my mum and although I’ve always loved travelling, I now feel more than ever that life is too short. I don't want to have any regrets because I didn't explore or travel or try new experiences.

ABOUT ME

Im from wales but previously lived in Australia for four years. I’ve spent time travelling around SE Asia, South America and Australia and love immersing myself in different cultures. I am heading back to Australia after a few years back in the UK and am moving to a new city, Sydney, and looking for friends and tips on how to make the most of my time here. My boyfriend Ben is coming with me this time and it will be his first time travelling.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short. We get one shot at this and I want to feel that I have led the best life I can, including travel and new experiences and helping people wherever possible. I also like to believe in the principles of karma, treat others as you'd like to be treated and good things will come your way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couch surfing. Many of my friends have recommended it and I figured it was worth a go. I cannot currently host unfortunately as I have no fixed residence, but hopefully in the future I can repay the good travel karma.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in Taiwan I had my bag stolen, and being the rookie I was I had my ID and bank cards in it (as well as a brand new unlocked iphone, ouch!) I was lucky that some people I'd met briefly let me stay with them in their apartment, I was so grateful and enjoyed spending time with different people from varying walks of life.

Interests

I used to rock climb and enjoy trekking and just being outdoors. I *try* to surf, but I suck at it but love being in the sea. I like reading, although I don't spend nearly as much time doing this as I should, and I do like to have a drink and socialise with friends or new acquaintances. I’m hoping to get more active back in Australia and to meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

All time, top five favourite movies has to be Fight Club, Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption, Labyrinth and Life is beautiful.
Steinbeck is my favourite author as well as Terry Pratchett and Bill Bryson.
I love rock music but I do have a guilty pleasure of listening to chart music as its so catchy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Its a popular one but Machu Picchu was breathtaking! And the same week I trekked there I also met an altruistic aussie girl who was travelling South America to feed impoverished people. On Christmas Eve we handed out bread rolls, cartons of juice and oreos to large groups of children and adults sat in the square in Cusco. It was very moving, especially at Christmas and made me realise how thankful we all should be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a science teacher so can help with science studies. I have travelled within South America and SE Asia so can give tips and advice on good places to go.

I'd like to learn latin spanish, pilates and salsa.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can recommend places to travel that I have been to or help with science topics. My boyfriend Ben is a handy man so can fix things or do odd jobs round the house if needed. We are both tidy and friendly and happy to help in any way we can.
