About Me

I am a senior in college searching for authenticity and fulfilling the things inside me that scream to be experienced, seen, and heard. Like most people in college, I am not necessarily lost, but on the way to something great that I don't know about yet; while going down this unknown path I am looking to get the most out of life and love as much as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing from a few friends that have similar ambitions to travel like I do. I absolutely love to meet people and travel, so what better way to do that than to join Couchsurfing?

"Sometimes one has to leave the safely of the homeland, where security becomes an excuse for apathy, and embark on the trail, head to the mountain pass, and know in one's bones the adventure of life. It's a wisdom that comes only from the edge. If home is the place that provides safely from the adventure and passion of life, then we must leave immediately." -Ann Pederson one of my favorite religion professors at Augustana

Interests

I am interested in sports, whether it's watching them or playing them, they are so fun to be involved in.

One of my biggest interests is collecting vinyl albums. I love browsing record stores to find music. Since I grew up with music from the 50s-80s, those records are especially exciting for me to find. Not to mention, music sounds better on vinyl.

Another interest is photography. My mother is a photographer, so she has greatly influenced my interest in it. Although, I mostly dabble, it is a fun and creative outlet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to such a wide variety of music, because it is integrated so deeply in my life, but to name a few of my personal favorite artists and musicians: The Avett Brothers, Middle Brother, Dawes, Brandi Carlile, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Elton John, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Band of Horses, John Denver, Wild Child, Rayland Baxter, Damien Jurado, Ben Howard, The Mamas and the Papas, The Staves, Langhorne Slim, The Tallest Man on Earth, Bon Iver, Elliott Smith, The Beatles, Jackson Browne, Damien Rice, Electric Light Orchestra, First Aid Kit, Fleetwood Mac, Gabrielle Aplin, Hozier, James Vincent McMorrow, The Head and the Heart, and it goes on and on.

Movies: Walk the Line, Good Will Hunting, 21 Jump Street. (I'm not much of a movie or TV person.)

Books: I am an English major and a Religion minor in school so books are pretty much my life. I love reading theology books and fiction books in particular. Some of my favorite authors are Anne Lamott, Rumi, Oriah, J.R.R Tolkien, J.K Rowling, Cassandra Clare, Cheryl Strayed, Stanley Kunitz F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Nadia Bolz-Weber.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My senior year of high school, I decided to go against my parent's wishes and my own sanity, to go skydiving. I like to do things that challenge me and scare me a little bit, so I thought skydiving would be a good activity for that. The scariest part, like many things in life, was actually jumping out of the plane into free fall. I remember being paralyzed in fear but I knew that I couldn't go back and I am so glad that I didn't. It was the most thrilling thing I have ever done and the high that comes from doing something as scary as that made me feel unstoppable.

Countries I’ve Visited
