ABOUT ME

I am 22 years old and I just finished my 4th year of civil engineering school at the University of Kansas. I have one more semester left and I am spending my last summer working as an au pair for a family in San Augustin de Guadalix just north of Madrid, Spain. This is my first time out of the country and I am trying to improve my spanish while I am here but the family wants me to teach their children English, so I am looking for someone to help me with my Spanish for the summer! I love meeting and talking to new people and I'm a very open-minded and friendly person. I love being active, going out with my friends, and just having fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only couch surfed a few times. My friend Robyn and I stayed with 3 different couch surfers on our trip through Colorado for our winter break. Most recently, I traveled with Robyn to Italy and stayed with a surfer in Milan. I have never had a bad experience and everyone I have met has been incredible! Although I have never hosted previously, I am willing to host surfers once I return to my home in Lawrence, Kansas at the end of August.

Interests

I have many interests. I love to read and learn new things, as well as go out with friends and meet new people. I enjoy being active and doing things like biking, camping, and hiking. I love to go dancing and just have a good time! I am very talkative and easy to get along with and I love to laugh :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love pretty much any good movie and would never be able to pick a favorite. I also really love reading. Some of my favorite books include 1000 Splendid Suns, Fight Club, A Song of Ice and Fire series, The Raw Shark Texts, and so many more! As far as music, I love anything that I can dance to, and also have a deep appreciation for talented musicians.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh geez, this is pretty tough. I'd have to say one of the most amazing things I have seen would have to be when I was camping in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. My friend and I drove into the campsite around 1:00 am. No one else was awake and there were no lights on in the entire campsite. We were in the valley of the mountains and in the complete darkness, and I could see more stars than I have ever seen before. As we were setting up our camp, we saw a shooting star. It turns out, there was a meteor shower that night. We abandoned setting up the tent and just laid on the picnic table for the next few hours, watching the sky in amazement. It was incredible.
I can't think of a another particularly awe-inspiring moment right now, but I will add more when I think of them!
