Hey there! I'm Kelly. I grew up in the DC suburbs and graduated from Macalester College in Minnesota in 2014. Having absolutely zero experience in the Southwest US, I jumped on a plane to New Mexico about a week after I graduated and spent two months interning at an off-grid permaculture and sustainable learning center near Madrid, NM. I next WWOOFed at an urban farm in Santa Fe for about a month, then ended up landing a job with the Santa Fe Farmers Market Institute last fall. I've been here ever since! While in many ways I love New Mexico, I feel it's time for a new adventure. As of late July 2015, I'm wrapping up my life here and preparing to do a little bit of traveling around the US.

A bit about my interests: While I've always felt most at home outside in the woods, living in NM has been an excellent opportunity to gain more experience with hiking and backpacking. Professionally and personally, I'm most passionate about building socially and environmentally sustainable communities. (Lately, that has meant working to support local food systems/sustainable agriculture.) I grew up in a family of musicians, so singing with others is something very close to my heart. I'm a geeky intellectual through and through, so discussions about the world and how it works are always welcome!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveling around the US trying to figure out where I want to be and what I want to be doing next. I'll be focusing primarily on the West Coast. I love sharing experiences and worldviews with others, so this seems like an excellent way to get to know people and places!
