About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world and live to tell about it.

ABOUT ME

After doing my four years at Central Michigan University and two internships in the great NYC, I packed my bags and headed to Asia. I moved to Singapore in August 2009 to study at the Nanyang Technological University. While there, I found Sports + Travel, an international magazine and was hooked by their ambition to explore the world and live to write about it. I started working in January and as of now don't have a departure date. However, I yearn for the days when I'll be able to move back to NYC and get my own little crappy apartment in the East Village where eccentric people, unconventional restaurants, world-famous sites, and crazy nights abound. Until then, I'll just have to wait and see where life leads me next, but for now, I'm trying to soak up as much SE Asia and the rest of the world as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

"It's not that I go looking to take risks, I just don't let them get in the way"
-Anderson Cooper

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

About every month, my roommates and I hold CS parties at our apartment. If you're from Singapore and involved in Couch Surfing, you may have heard of them. We go by the name of the UN House because we have so many nationalities living in our apartment. Currently, we have Irish, Filipino/Swiss, German, French, Korean, Chinese and American.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to stay on someone's couch, but I'm looking forward to changing that!

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: I'll admit it...I love chick flicks. Even the bad ones. I just think they're entertaining. :) I also really like international films like City of God, Black Book, Goodbye Lenin, and films by Fellini. Not to mention, I love adventure flicks like 007.

MUSIC: Oh gosh...this list could get long, so I'll just give you the genres: Hip Hop, R&B, Bollywood, Techo (House, Trance, Dub Step), Latin (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Reggaetone), Alternative Rock, ANYTHING ON A PUTUMAYO CD!

BOOKS: Umm...so I'm a little embarrassed, but I read everything from Twilight (fiction about vampires...lol) to House of Cards (non-fiction about the collapse of the stock market). Probably one of my favorite authors at the moment is Murakami: Kafka on the Shore & Norwegian Wood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped into a Cenote in Mexico, saw Machu Piccu in Peru, went sky diving in Michigan, white water rafting in Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, Diving in Thailand (Phuket) & Australia (Great Barrier Reef) ...looking for more things. (Sorry, I know that's more than one)
