ABOUT ME

i am a big weirdo! i read constantly, drink way too much, and love meeting and getting to know new people. i compulsively dye my hair, thrift shop like there's no tomorrow, and obsess over bad art and bizarre Americana. i am vegan, but in my travels i am accustomed to living on nuts and trail mix because the midwestern U.S. is unfortunately very meat-centric. i will try absolutely anything at least once, assuming it doesn't hurt an animal, of course. i dislike capital letters.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i have never done any overnight hosting via this website, but i have met and spent time with people that i found here. i recently moved from a tiny studio apartment into a sizable house in NE Portland, OR, and i have sleep space for several people if that is needed. i drink pretty heavily and keep odd hours, so if you are an early-to-bed, early-to-rise sort of person, i may be the wrong choice. but i love people and love to have fun, and i'll even cook for you if you're okay with vegan cuisine.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i travel a lot, and i have often ended up in odd situations without a conventional way out. without the assistance of friendly eccentrics who let me crash here and there, i would have had a lot of difficulty! now it is time to return the favor. also, i have hosted people who met me through friends of friends, some for months.

i am a freakishly avid reader and obsessive traveller. i like to cook -- one of my hobbies is seeing how closely i can mimic something un-vegan without using any animal products. let's see . . . i love liberal politics and talking about same, i like trying new beers/wines, i like music in small venues. i like to laugh.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

every day is amazing. at least, it should be. my first trip to prague was breathtaking -- it lay under a coat of fresh snow. it inspired the sort of awe in me that i think is usually reserved for people who have faith in some deity or another. so we'll go with that.

ummm . . . i can teach you to make vegan country-fried steak. does that count? and i can show you where all the best local IPA's are. really, i can teach you a lot about booze in general. and we could share a nice hug.
