CURRENT MISSION

Just back from traveling in Europe for three months. I had a great time and met a lot of cool people through couchsurfing. I'd love to return the favor to the CS community in Philly. Unfortunately, I can't host but I'd love to meet up with couchsurfers and share some of the things I love about my hometown.

ABOUT ME

I love meeting people in foreign places and realizing (all over again) how small the world is and how similar we all are in some very basic ways, and how delightfully different in others.

I'm a buddhist specifically but a humanist generally. I like to talk to people about the way they interact with others and the world and the life philosophies they've developed that are unique and personal.

When I'm at home I volunteer with a local group that plants trees in the city streets. A city is so much softer with trees :)

I'm a vegetarian, but not judgy about others' food choices.

I love music and will always ask 'What song/band is this?' if I'm out somewhere and hear a great song. Mixtapes and playlists are like life soundtracks and I love making them!

I love to learn new cities by walking around them, getting lost and getting found. i prefer to make a map of a city with the soles of my shoes. I also love meeting people who live in a new city and learning about the unique, little known places that they love best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've never been interested in the touristic elements of traveling. I'd much rather have a coffee or glass of wine with a local and find out what's special and cool about a place. It's the human connections that inspire me.

I'm happy to share a drink or a meal with couchsurfers in Philly or go out and check out some cool places and events.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Hamburg in 2007, I stood less than 3 feet away from the Dalai Lama and attended a week long teaching with him. That was pretty cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach energywork (reiki and Integrated energy therapy) as well as metta meditation.
I'd love to learn more french. Some slang would be fun!
I can share some conversation and some tips on what to do in Philly that doesn't involve standing in a line or following a tour guide.
