I'm a traveler in my mid-30s who loves to explore, meet new people, and learn about different cultures! I'm very friendly, easy going, and fun. I grew up in Los Angeles County and went to school at UC Berkeley. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for a total of 7 years, on the east cost near NYC for 2.5 years, and then moved back to the LA area and lived there for the last roughly 3 years. I worked for the last 7 years as a Civil/Environmental Engineer for an environmental consulting company, but quit my job in fall 2024 to take a gap year and travel all over the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to meet people from all over, learn about their cultures, and offer knowledge of my own! While I can't host at the moment, I would love to in the future, and I have many recommendations of where to travel based on where I've lived and visited.

Interests

Veganism: I have been vegan for 10 years now! I'm really passionate about animal rights.

Singing: I was in choir throughout middle school, high school, college, and joined some community choirs after college. I love to sing, and karaoke is one of my favorite things to do on a night out!

Climbing: In the last couple of years, I've gotten really into rock climbing. I boulder, top rope, and recently started to lead climb. I feel most comfortable with top roping right now, but want to expand my leading abilities.

Scuba Diving: It has been a while since I've scuba dived, but I got my advanced certification in Thailand in 2017. I'm definitely looking to have more opportunities to explore it.

Thrill seeking: I've sky dived, bungee jumped, parasailed, paraglided, done some very intense hikes, and gone on many scary roller coasters. I'm always seeking out new intense, thrilling experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to pretty much everything! I like pop, rock, classic rock, alternative, some country, some rap/hip hop, EDM, etc.

Movies: My favorite genres are comedy and suspense/horror. I really love the Ace Ventura movies.

Books: I like reading non-fiction books because I love learning! For example, I like to read about the origins of the earth or read books that are geared toward self-development. For fiction, I of course have read the Harry Potter books, although only the first four... I read the Twilight series (lol) and Hunger Games series. I think I need to expand my exposure to fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One thing that stands out to me is hiking Long's Peak in Colorado, which is the tallest mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is 14,259 ft tall, was a 16-mile hike, and took 15 hours round-trip. This hike was thrilling, adventurous, and intense!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been to 20 countries and counting, so I can share about the destinations I've been to and recommendations! I've also lived in 12 cities in the US in both Northern and Southern CA as well as on the east coast near NYC. While I can't host at the moment, I would love to in the future! I also would love to teach people how to climb and share in any of the hobbies that I'm interested in.
