About Me

I grew up in Tehachapi, a rural town in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. I'm entering my third year at the University of California San Diego, where I've been studying Marine Biology and Philosophy. I'm not so sure about Marine Bio anymore, though, so before I sink another small fortune on my formal education I'm taking some time off to reevaluate. I've done a fair amount of travel within the US and I'm very low-maintenance, conscientious and excited to meet locals wherever I go! And save money. I like that part, too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about Couchsurfing from a guidebook my aunt lovingly shoved down my throat when she learned that I haven't scheduled out every single moment of my European excursion. I was hooked when I saw "free". Now that I've used it a few times, I appreciate more than its cost (or lack thereof)--staying in hostels is awesome but makes it almost impossible to meet locals. Couchsurfing connects you with the unpretentious, open-minded and open-hearted of each region. Ideally.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: most

Incredibly eclectic music tastes. I love live music. A quick search of my car finds CDs of Simon and Garfunkel, Hozier, Elton John, Garth Brooks and Jonas Kaufmann. And an old Boston cassette. I've played violin since I was 6 but recently took up the guitar, so please teach me more.

Movies: Anything besides horror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Toss-up between taking a doors-off helicopter ride in Kauai, Hawaii on a very windy day and galloping my horse bareback on the beach. (the horse was bareback, not me)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning languages, instruments, about history and you.

To share--2 years of university and I still haven't got a marketable skill set, but I can do the wave with my eyebrows. Take that, career counsellors.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of happy smiles and warm, appreciative sentiments. Happy to do anything I can to help out!
maybe a bit of alcohol
oh and I love to cook! (but eat at your own risk)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Wales
