À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Ship myself to Hong Kong and get myself back to Atlanta in 3 months

ABOUT ME

Waddup.

I'm Kelsey. I enjoy bubble tea, dogs, parks, and my Kindle.I'm from Atlanta, but have been traveling for a good deal of my life. I can make a delicious green smoothie and also the best mac n'cheese you've ever had, so I'm flexible. I may be addicted to my iPad. I live in my yoga pants. I enjoy meaningful conversation with diverse groups of people. Right now, I'm listening to Cory Doctorow talk about internet privacy at Google but earlier today I was yanking to Waka Flocka in the car. Diverse interests. I enjoy good people who want to contribute goodness, intelligence and love to the world. I kind of think that last sentence sounds stupid but I'm learning to agree with it--whatever.I'm one sarcastic little bumblebee. I am finally pushing myself back out on a solo trip from Hong Kong to Copenhagen!!! This may be the scariest thing I've ever done--holy crap.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Support life. Don't hurt yourself or other people if you can help it. Listen more than you speak. Go for what you want. Fight for your right to be happy, secure, and fulfilled. Enjoy life by saying yes and then laughing. Stay laughing. Enjoy yourself. Fight for yourself.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a surfer bro.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far with this website in particular, I have hosted one Singaporean, and it was definitely an interesting experience. I've couchsurfed before, but with friends. I have hosted at least a hundred times so I know that hosts care about cleanliness, consideration, and just being a thoughtful human being who expresses gratitude for the space from time to time. In the same light, I feel that as a host I am open to different lifestyles, and like to accommodate my guests. I hate for someone to be uncomfortable. I know what's like to have a horrible surfer and I don't wanna be (anything other than what I've been trying to be lately) a terrible surfer.

Centres d'intérêt

Cooking, food (especially Asian cuisines), journalism, writing, television , politics, history, dogs, parks, screenwriting, French, bubble tea, green smoothies, fruits and veggies (I love mangos, cherries, guava, mangosteen, lychee, golden kiwi and rambutan), hair care (I'm a natural hair lady so I'm obsessed with new all-natural products and oils that help me take care of my hair) You may see me at one point put a banana in my hair--no biggie.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Since I pirate a good deal of music, I suppose I'll list the two artists I actually decided were worth my entire $10.

1. Sufjan Stevens
2. Haim

I just Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel and really enjoyed it. Also, About Time is a cute little movie. I've been getting into Danish films lately, a lot of them feature Mads Mikkelson in some aspect or another, and I'm appreciative of his work in The Hunt and A Royal Affair. I enjoyed both movies, but I believe The Hunt was noteworthy.
I'm a sucker for a classic Disney movie, some Tarantino or even Scorcese. The Princess Bride, Scott Pilgrim, the Young Victoria, Dexter, Mad Men, Sopranos, Big Bang Theory, and others. I love a good neuroscience or history documentary.

I just read Shantaram by Greg Roberts. Expertly written, but a little too obsessed with German brunettes.

And now I'm reading Austen's Pride and Prejudice for the first time. Mr. Bennet is funny as hell.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I have ridden an elephant, camel, horse, tuk tuk and human. Up next, ostrich.

I've sand duned in Dubai, partied in Indonesia, and read poetry in Paris.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I enjoy intellectual people. I love to learn, so I'm attracted to those who love to teach, doubly attracted to those who teach without a film of condescension. I think one of my passions is listening to other people talk about their passions. I don't enjoy arrogance. To a certain extent, everyone is a bit of a fool. We are all trying to figure out how to do life so I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I enjoy people who embrace nonsense, goofiness, and the kid inside them (that sounded weird but you get what I mean) Don't take yourself so seriously, ya goober!

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

A place to lay your sweet little head. And maybe a little food. Wifi. Cable. Netflix.

Come to think of it, my place is the shit.
