About Me
Hello all! My name is Kelsey and I'm 24 years old, with 25 looming on the horizon. I stand at 5"4, with blonde hair and blue eyes...but let's get to the stuff that matters.
Last year, on February 24th 2014, is when my love for travel ignited. My best friend and I went to Brazil for Carnaval, and it was an incredible, eye-opening experience. We had the best time, meeting lots of new people and (trying to) learn a little Portuguese, celebrating Carnaval with a bunch of our local friends. We were there for 17 amazing days, and the only reason we were there at all is because of CouchSurfing.
Yes. Without CouchSurfing, we never would have gone. The previous August the same friend and I went to Montreal for a music festival, and she was taking care of accommodations. Three days before, she told me we would be couch surfing with a handful of Brazilian male exchange students. At first, I was nervous. I'd never done this before, but when we went, we had a great time and they were fantastic. They invited us to visit them in Brazil for Carnaval, and thus, the passion for travel was born.
I've since backpacked through Central America. We started in Mexico and made our way down through Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. It was beautiful, and only further impresses upon me that the world has so much to see. I have one of those travel scratch maps in my room, the ones that you scratch off the foil of where you've been...I want to be able to scratch the whole thing!
And to do that, I come to CouchSurfing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm pretty extroverted. I love being with people, meeting new people and am always on the go. Most people here are similar, and who doesn't love meeting and befriending like-minded free spirits?
Interests
I enjoy singing and music a great deal. Exploring new places is definitely up there on the list, and I have to say I love my dog. I love writing, but only when the mood hits! Reading, almost anytime, because how cool is it to be able to slip into another world without leaving your seat?
Hiking volcanoes (thanks Central America), boarding down an active volcano (thanks Nicaragua), seeing the sunrise and the sunset, trying new foods, seeing all the incredible things the world has to offer...Yep.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, so many. I will always love Harry Potter, books and movies. LOTR, books and movies. Those are the two that stand out to me in both genres, but I also love Pride & Prejudice, the book, haven't seen the movie. The Hunger Games, books over the movies but Jennifer Lawrence is a gem. There are too many to name!
As for music...we should just talk.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I've ever experienced is how backpackers interact with each other. Hostel life is something entirely different, and it's just so amazing that you can walk away with friends from Germany, England, Wales, the United States, Sweden, Israel, Australia, you name it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a clean house guest. Not only do I take care of my personal hygiene, I also won't leave all my stuff everywhere and make a mess in your home.
I also like to think I'm a pretty nice person who can get along with anyone. If I stay with you, I'd love to get to know you, but can appreciate that you also have a busy life. I'm fairly easygoing.
Lastly, I can cook you a pretty solid meal!
