Overview
About Me
I am a teacher, a student, and a martial artist. I love getting to know people, so I'm an incredible listener. I'm outgoing, sarcastic, and have a tendency of speaking my mind. I never get bored and I am constantly moving and looking for the next great thing to do.
I caught the travel bug when I was 14 and went to Italy with my mom. I followed that with trips to Australia, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, and Ireland. Then I studied in Japan during my time as an undergraduate. During the summer of 2015, I spent six weeks adventuring through Europe with my high school best friend. We visited eleven countries and had an amazing time.
In the spring of 2016, I visited Portland and Seattle (and some places in between). I realized I have a lot of traveling to do right here in the United States!
Since then, I graduated from college and moved to Costa Rica where I lived in Liberia, Guanacaste and taught English for a non-profit organization. I learned far more than I ever expected, frequented the beach, and really brushed up on my Spanish.
I'm now back in the United States and looking to travel a little bit nearer to home! Hoping to make more friends along the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In the summer of 2015, my friend Jessica (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/jessica-florac) and I traveled through Europe for six weeks. We did a little bit of couch surfing and it was always a positive experience. Our hosts really added to our experiences in the places we were visiting. It was very cool to meet someone who knew more than just touristy things about a city. We loved spending evenings talking to our hosts and getting to know each other.
Now I'm looking to meet more amazing people and learn about cool places while I travel in the United States!

Music, Movies, and Books
I will never outgrow the Harry Potter series. I love Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, You Shall Know Our Velocity, A Hologram for the King, What is the What, Zeitoun). To Kill A Mockingbird, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Nightingale, etc. Is anyone else eagerly awaiting the third book in Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle?
I'm down for watching any movie, really. My favorite are The Rocker, Catch Me If You Can, Lilo and Stitch, and The Sound of Music.
My musical tastes lean toward indie pop, but variety is the spice of life. Andrew McMahon, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate, Vampire Weekend, Al Bairre, The National, Frightened Rabbit, Band of Horses, Bogan Via, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef!
