ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurist free-spirit, lover of music and the outdoors, being in nature, and dog-lover. I'm not easily defined by the jobs I hold, as I take on random things that allow me the flexibility to do the things I want. But I have just finished a teaching certification and plan on being a middle school (ages 12-14) Social Studies / History teacher. Otherwise the "big girl" jobs I have held have allowed me to travel across the country, so really not all that bad!

PHILOSOPHY

I'd like to think I've got it figured all out. I work hard, but only until I have saved enough to explore and do the things I love. I don't want to be bogged down with life, it should always be uplifting.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to CS and won't have the opportunity to host until I return from my Europe trip in mid July. Before I leave however, I am entertaining some fellow CSers and very much looking forward to showing them my city! I'll have my first experience as a surfer very soon and can't wait for the adventure that lies ahead! I am a very flexible travelor, and I try very hard to give as much notice when I can but my travel plans may tend to change from time to time. If I meet some great people going the opposite direction than me, I may just change my plans and go along; if I am with someone who I don't want to leave yet, then I will stay longer. In return I will be a very flexible host as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am brand new! I have many friends who regularly couch surf and I'm ready to get started on my own adventures!

I love doing things with my dog, Ali, she is usually in tow with me. Living in Austin, I am able to enjoy such a wide range of activities. Ali and I often go hiking on the greenbelts around town and swim in the swimming holes. I can spend hours in a record store or used book store. I enjoy biking and longboarding and I will see a concert at least once a week, usually more.

Music is my thing, I keep up with new bands and see live shows very often.

This summer we did a hitchhiking race from Texas to Gorges St. Park in North Carolina. We divided in 7 groups of 3 and hit the highway with our thumbs out, signs and flowers in our hair. Being dependent on yourself for travel and the kindness of strangers is an eye opening experience. Only knowing where you want to end up but not how you'll get there is exhilarating. My fellow adventurers that I didn't know previously soon became friends and eventually family. We are teachers, artists, energy healers, musicians, students, big and small town kids but together we are hitchhikers, campers and adventure seekers. We camped on top of a waterfall for 5 days, ate together, slid down waterfalls, jumped off cliffs, sang together had drum circles and took countless amounts of photos. I am still in a state of awe and it will be with me forever.

On the road I will make hemp bracelets/necklaces and colorful friendship bracelets. It passes the time and allows me to give a special gift to those I am traveling with.
