Overview
About Me
I was born in Texas, grew up in the Bay Area (near San Francisco/Oakland) before going to college in southern California (near LA). After graduating, I've since worked and lived in San Francisco.
Growing up in California as a Chinese American has given me an appreciation for my Chinese heritage as well as In-N-Out Burger, sunshine, and all other things Californian.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Probably for the same reasons as most: I'm curious about other cultures and Couchsurfing seems a great way to get to know a place and some of the people that live there.
Interests
I like getting to know people from all walks of life. There's nothing like finding common ground with someone and making a genuine connection, regardless of cultural/religious/political differences.
I've spent a lot of time in my life playing and following sports. I played a lot of junior tennis tournaments when I was younger and am just a big sports fan in general. I love stand-up and improv comedy too.
Programming is good fun. Writing code can be quite therapeutic at times. I also used to be an avid video game player and have always been a bit of a nerd.
Oh, and food. Fresh seafood is one of my favorites. A big upside to living in SF has been the wide range of selection for good eats.

Music, Movies, and Books
It's hard to really narrow it down, but here are some of my favorites:
Music - A Tribe Called Quest, Jurassic 5, Jimi Hendrix, Atmosphere, Kendrick Lamar, John Mayer, Al Green, Radiohead, Kanye West, Norah Jones, Classixx, Corinne Bailey Rae, Alicia Keys, The Smiths
Movies - Good Will Hunting, Superbad, Do the Right Thing, Memento, Pulp Fiction, Pan's Labyrinth, The Shawshank Redemption, Thank You for Smoking, Oldboy, Rounders, the list goes on...
TV Shows - The Wire, Game of Thrones, The Simpsons, Parks & Recreation, The Office (US version), True Detective, The Walking Dead
Books - The Catcher in the Rye, Moneyball, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Foundation
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - I can talk for hours about any of the things that I touched on above. If there's anything that you're curious about, I'm always happy to discuss.
Learn - Learning other languages is always fun. I'm also aware of how US-centric my experiences are and will always be eager to soak up parts of other cultures. I'm open to anything. There's something to be learned from every other person on the planet and this seems like one of the greatest parts of participating in an exchange like Couchsurfing.
Share - Overall, my life is an open book and I'm happy to talk about anything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good company (I hope), a few laughs, maybe a new perspective. I'm happy to buy each of my hosts a nice bottle of wine, or other drink of your choice, dinner, etc. and help out around the house with chores. I'll certainly do my best to be a good guest :)
