About Me
Hi, I’m Ken!
I’m a 35-year-old professional dancer from the Netherlands, currently living in Aachen and working in Frankfurt. My life has been shaped by movement — not only on stage, but also across borders. Through work, projects, and personal adventures, I’ve been lucky to travel to many different places, and each city and country has taught me something new about people, culture, and human connection.
For me, Couchsurfing is about much more than a place to sleep. It’s about shared stories, spontaneous conversations, and those small moments of connection that stay with you long after the journey ends. I value openness, kindness, and curiosity, and I try to bring that energy into every new encounter.
When I’m not dancing or teaching, I love slowing down: reading, cooking, or exploring cities on foot. I enjoy walking without a plan, getting a little lost, and discovering hidden corners, quirky cafés, or parks where locals spend their time. In the evenings, I’m always up for good conversation over a glass of wine — whether it turns into a deep talk about life or silly travel stories that leave us laughing until our cheeks hurt.
If this resonates with you, feel free to send me a message. I’m always happy to chat, answer questions, or share more about my life.
Looking forward to meeting you — wherever in the world that may be.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a host, I’m happy to welcome travelers who are respectful, open-minded, and curious about the world. My home is simple but warm, and I try to make it a small safe space where guests can relax and feel at ease. I appreciate mindfulness and small gestures of help, but above all, I care about sharing a good vibe.
As a guest, I’m easy-going, clean, and respectful. I’ll always leave your place as I found it, and I’m happy to help with cooking, cleaning, or simply sharing a nice conversation after a long day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I’ve done in my life:
If I had to choose one experience that changed me forever, it would be the time I spent living in India, working with children who had survived the devastating tsunami. It wasn’t something I planned — life just led me there. What started as a simple volunteer trip became one of the most challenging and beautiful journeys of my life.
I ended up setting up my own small trauma support organization for children who had not only lost their families but also their sense of safety and trust in the world. Many of them were terrified of the ocean — a place that once represented play and freedom, but now symbolized fear and loss. My mission became clear: to help them reconnect with the joy of childhood, overcome their trauma, and most importantly, help them rediscover their relationship with the water.
Day by day, I worked with these kids — first, just building trust. We played simple games, laughed, shared stories. Slowly, I started introducing them to the water again, sometimes just dipping toes in, sometimes just sitting near the shore. It was incredibly slow, delicate work. I witnessed tears, setbacks, fear, but also little moments of courage that made my heart swell. One day, after months of patient steps, one of the girls who had once screamed at the sight of the sea ran into the water with a smile. That moment — seeing her laugh, splash, and play — was something I’ll never forget.
The experience taught me so much: the strength of the human spirit, the power of patience, and how joy can be rebuilt even after the darkest times. It was exhausting, heartbreaking, and sometimes overwhelming, but it was also the most meaningful thing I’ve ever done. I left India with a heart full of gratitude, a deeper understanding of resilience, and lifelong memories of the bravery of children who chose to heal.
