About Me

Just starting out in the world. I am still amazed at how far we have gone and are yet to go.

Looking to purchase a steel hull boat for touring Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Boredom with hotels. I have a desire to understand community, traditional lodging is lacking. We need to bring back the public house.

Interests

Cooking, baking - breakfast and dinners. My current desire is to learn more about French cooking. My visit to France left me undecided about that. For baking I would like to know more about different cakes. My breads include more exotic flours - spelt, kamut, rye, rice.

Starting an Internet company and Community Radio Stations.

Travel Favourites - Lots of Mexico (been to every state but Baja Sur), The Netherlands (especially Den Haag), Porto, Tenerife, Belfast.

Computer Science, Sociology, canoeing, yoga, culture, quora.com.

Currently rum - I was on a tequila phase for a while after gin and scotch, which I found to be ... overrated. It's a story.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Rolling Stones (x2), Bowie (x1), Bjork, Rheostatics (x1), Tragically Hip, Jesse Cook (x2), Feist, The Mahones, The Pogues, Mark Knopfler, Modern Superstitions, Neil Young, The Odds & ZZ Top.

Star Trek, James Bond (Connery), Clint's movies, Jason Bourne series (been on the set of JB5).

… and sadly my reading is mostly technical manuals for computer science. Just getting into routing tables on quora.com .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Started and published, PIER - a news and entertainment magazine with some buddies from university. We lasted three years, but what a ride.

Teach, Learn, Share

Traveled Mexico extensively and just finished a 5 month review of Western Europe.

Learning about anything related to how people are living during the invention of computers. Also, I love to learn about food, anything you can share is appreciated, especially ethnic foods.

I can gladly share what I know about traveling, computer hardware and software.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook! My best friend is a sous chef so I am learning from him.

Breakfasts - crepes, omelettes, waffles. My chicken soup is my fathers recipe. The chile is getting there, maybe this year.

Fairly decent at computer repairs (Apple and iOS) although a bit rusty, it has been a few years since I ran LegacyMac repairing Apple computers.

Travel stories. My visit to Europe was work related but food was an alternate reason to go. Love Italy, Portugal, still not convinced about France.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Russian Federation, Scotland, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Mexico
