I am a hodge podge of a variety of eclectic, contradicting interests, half learned skills, and a swell of intense desires.

I studied Classical Studies at the University of Arkansas, but now I work as a game developer making education games. I grew up on myths, stories and video games and now I'm learning how to make my own.

At any given time, there are probably three or four things I'm trying to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel. It is the closest I will come to time travel. I love to visit historical and ancient places and meet people who think a bit different than me. I place a huge priority and importance on understanding and wisdom, which travel has helped me more than anything.

Reading is good too.

My job has allowed me to travel to all sorts of places, but I think the time is coming soon where I need to take a year or two off and explore the world. And when I do, I hope to use Couch Surfing to help meet people and save money.

Interests

Didn't I just say I was a hodge podge of a variety of eclectic and contradicting interests?

At the moment, those interests consist of adventure, Zen philosophy, game design, animation, strength and condition training, hiking, how the brain works, backpack traveling (of course), languages, history, storytelling.

There is little that doesn't interest me. The real difficulty of life is finding just those few key interests that you can devote your life too, since life is too short to learn everything in depth.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a lover of myth: Greek and Roman, of course, but also Indian, Japanese, Norse, Native American. I would love to travel to different places and write down stories from different people.

Fantasy of course is simple modern myth: Lloyd Alexander, Tolkien, L'engle, Lewis, etc.

I'm really big into travel books at the moment.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Help create a game that teaches Greek and Roman mythology as well as Roman life that is taught in an online course. It was the congealing of many, many interests, and the hardships and intricacies of creating not just a game, but actually a "good" educational game alongside friends is quite the experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching, learning and sharing. I'm an open book.

I cook really well (I think ;) and I'm always wanting to hone my skills. If you want to learn how to cook really good pasta, Indian curry, Mexican or Greek, give me a shout. Or if you want to share a new dish, I'll always be up for it.

I'm really wanting to learn the guitar and/or sing so if anyone has any pointers, I'm all ears. :)

And I'm always up for a round of Smash Bros or Mario Kart too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good food, good drink and good conversation! I can cook or help cook. I can bring wine or ice cold beer. And I love to swap stories and get advice on traveling and living life!
