About Me

Kia Ora! I'm Ken from Malaysia. I recently just finished a 14 month working holiday in New Zealand. Currently, back in Malaysia to celebrate the Lunar New Year. By the end of March 2024, I will embark on an overland journey to get from Malaysia to Europe.

Back home in Malaysia I was working as Product Manager in the tech industry. I've decided to take a year long sabbatical to travel. I would like to call myself adventurous and ambitious, having travelled solo internationally a handful of times, I've always crave for my next big adventure. My goal right now is to immerse myself into the local culture, as well as acquiring as many unique experiences as possible (e.g. Sailing, Flying a Plane, Horse Riding, Freediving etc.).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The internet is my only exposure to a world of cultural diverse human beings. Everyone of them having distinct experiences, mindsets and ideas. It will be exciting to meet these kind of people in my journey.

Interests

Passionate about hiking, can code websites and apps, pretty good with the world map, and have a huge interest in beatboxing.

Old school hip hop, 80's and 90's rock and all these electronic music with way too many subgenres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Traveled more than 10000km overland across Asia, from Malaysia to Kyrgyzstan (Still ongoing)
- Was a Buddhist Monk for a week
- Swam and bathe in cave mud in Phong Nha,
- Explored the Angkor Wat to the point my shoe was torn apart
- 3 time beatbox champion
- Scuba Diving in the Perhentians
- Saved enough money to travel with wages of US$2.50 per hour :)
- Performed shows 3 nights consecutively at a random hostel bar in the middle of nowhere.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Things about my country (Malaysia)
- I could help with chores, I think.
- Free lessons on the 4 languages (Cantonese is actually a dialect) I know
- Free beatboxing lessons (lol)
