Matthew 22:37-40
ABOUT ME
I am.
PHILOSOPHY
Spiritually, I am a Protestant Christian. My desire to live a life pleasing to God as I understand Him is one of my guiding principles.
Maritally, I am a sixth year husband to a great wife.
Professionally, I want to use my natural and acquired talents to improve the lives of other people.
Materially, I am inspired by the following lyric: "This world has nothing for me, / and this world has everything, / all that I could want / and nothing that I need." I hope to live out that truth more and more.
Politically, I tend libertarian, and I vote that way as frequently as I can. Sometimes it feels like a hopeless cause, but I sleep well on the night of every election.
Culinarily, I am vegan. As far as I can tell, cruelty toward animals is allowed to some degree in the production of nearly all animal products in the United States.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to host people whenever I can. I hope to do a bit of surfing from time to time. If you host me, then I will gladly wash your dishes! (For some reason, I find that task very relaxing.)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've crashed with family, friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friends (this is starting to sound like Inception), and CouchSurfing.org participants. I've hosted a few times and loved it.
Interests
I like...
- college football
- college basketball
- mathematics and statistics
- strategy board games (such as Settlers of Catan, Agricola, Puerto Rico, Acquire, and Carcassone)
- nonfiction books
- thrift stores (T-shirts, mostly)
- burritos
- my wife (oops; this should probably be higher up the list...)
- and more! (just ask!)
- animals
- books
- vegan
- thrifting
- board games
- surfing
- basketball
- soccer
- mathematics
- statistics
Music, Movies, and Books
In high school and college, I was a classical music buff. The Romantic period was my favorite, especially the piano concertos. I've fallen away from that in recent years. I am now a gangster rap aficionado. (That is not a joke.) I probably listen to Barenaked Ladies more than any other artist.
I like documentaries a lot but can also go for a mainstream comedy once in a while. I am convinced that the HBO television series The Wire is the greatest work of cinema that will ever be created.
I'd like to read the Bible more frequently, but I'm often kind of lazy in that department. I really enjoy reading Christian non-fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I grabbed one of the hands of TIM TEBOW (all hail His glorious name) as He walked toward Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for His final home game as a Florida Gator. (You can see the "before" and "after" shots in the Photos section of my profile.)
Slowly but surely I am visiting all of the 120-ish college football stadiums in the United States. Doing so enriches my viewing experience when I watch games on television.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you...
- about mathematics and statistics
- about the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (I'm not a member, though)
- how to play strategy board games such as Settlers of Catan, Agricola, Puerto Rico, Acquire, and Carcassonne
- how to make a tasty grilled burrito
- how to make hummus (my skills are a little rusty here, though)
