About Me

I am currently studying engineering at UBC in Vancouver, however I grew up in Abbotsford, BC on a farm. Some of my hobbies include hiking, running, and enjoying good food and drink. I love having people over and making them feel welcomed in my home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My theme word for summer 2017 is cultivate. I sometimes spend time going back to my parents farm and help them in their gardens and I love the process of building or growing something and watching it transform to produce something new. (My goal as an engineer is to build things that strike people with awe, wonder, and value much the same way the miracle of growth does.) However, in addition to all that, this summer I want to start cultivating community and hospitality. I am going to start in my own home and reach out to travellers to make them feel at home and welcomed. I am eager to find out who I will meet, what stories they will bring, and what we will learn from each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I really love hip-hop, and R&B, but I am also a fan of a wide variety of other genres from chill indie to dancehall and trap.
Movies:
A few movies that I've really enjoyed were "Good Will Hunting", "A Few Good Men", and "Siz Degrees of Separation"
Books:
I don't have a favourite, but I love any book that I draws me in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solo hiking: A couple years ago I found myself bored with an upcoming weekend and no friends free to hike. Eager to get out into nature I decided to try a trail by myself. It turned out to be a fascinating experience where I got to push my physical, mental, and spiritual boundaries while being alone in nature and lost in my own thoughts and prayers. Afterwards i found myself re-centered and re-focused. Since then I have made it a goal to go on a 1 night solo hike every year.
I have completed:
-Fryatt Valley, Jasper, AB
-Mount Locomotive near Semaphore Lakes, Pemberton, BC
-Opal Cone near Elfin Lakes, Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Mexico, United States
